Chastain stated, “Yeah definitely watch it, study it. Look at all, we got a tonne of data from all the drivers. You can see, I just never thought since the moment I saw the fire come out of his exhaust of turn 4, that he would be coming down the track to the field, I just didn’t think that or still don’t think that.”
“So, I made the decision early and my biggest mistake was not reevaluating going past the restart zone, going past the start-finish line I just had in my head, I’m just gonna follow the #2 car right underneath him and Kyle was trying to get out of our way and we met there so. Standby my initial decision and I just wish I would have kept thinking and I just kinda locked in on and get to follow the #2 car behind, it was obviously the wrong decision.”
Kyle Busch had slowed himself down after getting loose at a corner and almost tapping the wall. But for some reason he went down the track while he slowed himself down, leaving no space for an oncoming Ross Chastain, who ended up hitting him. after the initial hit, Chastain glided across the track and collected an unlucky Chase Elliott in the process.

If you watch that develop in real time. There is no way that Kyle should have dropped into traffic with all those cars coming at speed. 99.999% on Kyle.

He probably shouldn’t have hit Kyle Busch. It ruined both their days. Selfish.
