After the weekend’s season finale, an era is going to come to an end. To be exact, Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing will part ways, concluding a 15-year marriage. It all started with the departure of Mars from the NASCAR scene, leaving Busch without a sponsor and his future in jeopardy. Many hoped that Busch would stay with Joe Gibbs Racing for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, JGR delayed so much, despite reassurances that they were keen to continue with the #18 driver.

Instead, the move never materialized, and Richard Childress Racing struck while the iron was hot. Now in the buildup to the final race of the season and Busch’s final race as a JGR driver, Joe Gibbs opened up on the matter.
What did he say about Kyle Busch and what did the fans think?
Gibbs insisted that he did everything he could to retain the 2-time Cup champion’s services. He said, “Obviously, there’s a lot of emotion and you wish it could have kept going. We tried in every way to get things to work out, and it just didn’t.” Unfortunately, not a lot of fans were convinced by the platitude.

Joe Gibbs is the fakest person in the garage area. Actually, Ty is probably ahead of him now. Nothing but a bunch of two faced individuals.

The Gibbs Family in general is.

Was there ever an update on why he was so far off the pace Sunday?
— Kenny (@BassPlayer924) November 1, 2022
Fans dubbed him as two-faced and declared that they did little to stop him from leaving. Some even wondered why Kyle Busch was so far off the pace in Martinsville or had such terrible luck. At the end of the day, they were simply glad that Busch was leaving the outfit and joining RCR. The fans believed that Gibbs should have been more respectful and truthful when dealing with Kyle’s departure.
Good riddance 👋🏼 Overly tired of these fake, robotic answers from him. It would’ve been nice if he was more personable, respectful, and truthful dealing with Kyle’s departure. Talking points 🤷🏻♂️

Joe Gibbs is supposed to be a Christian man but he's lying through his teeth.

So let me get this straight. They let go a senior driver of the sport, who is a multiple race and championship winner, and who is still at the top of his game, to hire a kid who thinks he's Jesus in Nomex? Cool story bro 😎

Others praised Richard Childress Racing for getting sponsors quicker than JGR. Finally, a fair number of people were a bit incredulous that JGR would let go of a driver of Kyle Busch’s caliber, only to recruit a ‘kid who thinks he’s Jesus’ as his replacement.
