Over the course of a 20-year career, Jimmie Johnson has faced numerous adversaries. Sadly, he is set to walk away from NASCAR after the season finale.

Recently, Kyle Busch spoke about what it was like, racing against Johnson over the years. He cast his mind back to the 2008 season when he first joined Joe Gibbs Racing.

He said, “We were running with each other in Chicagoland, and I was leading with 30 to go. Then here comes Johnson, Mr Superman, always there when you don’t want him to be.

“He passes me with 10 laps to go, and then there was a caution. It gave us both a chance to cool everything off and go back at it on a restart.”

According to Busch, he got a good restart and tried to make a good getaway on the front stretch. Jimmie Johnson picked the lower lane, so Kyle drove around the outside.

In the end, Kyle Busch was able to fend off attacks from Johnson and eventually win the race.

In addition to that, Jimmie Johnson is pretty much a legend in the sport and it will be ages before anyone can match his statistics.

When the 45-year-old eventually walks away and starts his new life in IndyCar, he will be sorely missed in NASCAR. Nevertheless, he has achieved all that he can in the stock car racing series. So, he believes that it is time for a new chapter to his story.
