Josh Williams did not have a ride for the 2024 NASCAR season. The 30-year-old driver was a part of DGM Racing’s Xfinity Series program in 2023 but did not have a season to remember. As the season drew to a close, there was no certainty over Williams’ future. All those doubts have now turned to joy and excitement as he will be a full-time Xfinity Series racer for Kaulig Racing.

Josh Williams might not have had a good season in 2023 but he did make the headlines for the wrong reasons. During the regular season race in Atlanta, Josh Williams parked his car on the start/finish line before walking off into the pits. It was a dangerous move and something nobody expected. But with his latest move, one would expect that he has left behind the demons of last season. Now he has something to look forward to. So, how does he assess the chance he has earned?

Racing at 30, it is difficult to find a good ride in a sport as competitive as NASCAR. Especially when someone does not manage to record a single top 5 finish in the year. As far as Josh Williams is concerned, the move to Kaulig Racing is a golden opportunity for him to show he is still capable behind the wheel.

In a recent interview with Frontstretch, the former DGM Racing driver revealed his sense of relief after he had a confirmed seat for the 2024 Xfinity Series season. He was excited as he believed his years of hard work finally paid off.

“I’m super excited man. You know motorsports is full of what-ifs and what’s gonna happen next right? When we got this opportunity, it’s kind of like a weight lift off my shoulders a little bit. Everybody knows the deal, motorsports is super tough and I’ve been grinding hard for a while so to get this opportunity really means a lot,” he said.

Josh Williams will have to perform better than he did in the 2023 season with DGM Racing. The 30-year-old was only able to achieve three top-10 finishes in the entirety of the year. He will expect a more competitive car from Kaulig Racing. He will also be looking to learn from his veteran teammate, AJ Allmendinger.

Although it has only just been announced that Josh Williams will join Kaulig Racing in 2024, the driver has already been to the team’s shop.

As per Forbes, Josh Williams said that he is already feeling at home with the team and is raring to go in 2024. The goal, as far as Williams is concerned, is to win trophies. Once he becomes used to the car, he will be expected to contend for victories at Kaulig Racing. The team finished the 2023 season with four victories with three different drivers.

“After only an hour in the shop, I already feel like it’s home,” Williams said. “I’ve known a lot of these guys for a long time, and I felt like coming over here would give us a good opportunity to get wins. That’s the goal, trophy hunting.”
