NASCAR has always had a unique flair to it, whether it is the drama inside the oval, the distinctive & unique personalities in the paddock, or just the thrill of racing. In fact, the NASCAR community has always welcomed drivers with eccentric personalities. And Denny Hamlin is one of them.

Hamlin has recently garnered a lot of support from the NASCAR community, especially in light of his appeal getting overturned. With his honest and to-your-face approach, the 42-year-old certainly intrigues the fans. Coming to the story at hand, recently, Bubba Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, put out a poll pitting Hamlin against the “golden boy,” Chase Elliott. And let’s just say the poll saw a shocking result!

To the surprise of many, NASCAR fans voted in favor of the #11 driver. Even more shocking was the margin of victory.

NASCAR community chooses Denny Hamlin over Chase Elliott for his personality!

NASCAR insider, Freddie Kraft, had an engaging proposition for the fan community on his Twitter handle. He pitted two popular drivers from the league, one being the veteran Denny Hamlin and the other being the returning poster boy Chase Elliott.

Before putting out the poll, he had written, “I hate to make you look foolish myself, so I’ll pose this question to the twitter masses. Because I could be accused of being a little bias here. Is it even remotely debatable that Denny has more personality than Chase?”

While fans found the post absurd and belittling, Kraft came about with a poll with the 2 drivers, asking the followers to vote for the driver with the best personality.

Surprisingly or not, Hamlin won by a huge margin as more than 87% voted for him while a mere 12% sided with the Hendrick Motorsports driver.

This post comes after the very recent Martinsville race, for which the organization dished out promotion after promotion for the returning #9 driver only to be called out by the fans for over-promoting their “golden boy.”

Notably, both drivers have very different personalities. While Elliott is more of a reserved type, Hamlin is arguably more unfiltered, never shying from speaking his mind. As some fan comments suggest, there’s no argument when it comes to racing. The Hendricks driver seems to be on a whole different level with his spectacular finishes and stellar performances. But what further separates the two is their unique and contrasting personas, which was the focus of this poll.

Reacting to the post, fans also commented:

A few fans said: “How is this even a question? Chase has as much personality as a rock… doesn’t even interact with his fans at the races… I have no idea how his massive fan base continue to support him”

Easiest poll I’ve seen, Denny all day, everyday.”

One fan had an interesting point, “Hamlin actually contributes to the sport with positive and realistic suggestions.  Coming from a team owner, that goes a long way (and yes I know TRD builds their engines).  Chase is a legacy fan favorite because of his father, he can drive, but can’t really talk.”
