There are very few rivalries in NASCAR which have been as entertaining as the one between Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. Both racers have been at each other’s throats given the slightest of opportunities. Having said that, not many teams, owners, or even sponsors tolerate such behavior. That is where M&M’s played a key role in Busch’s career.
Sometimes, the former Joe Gibbs Racing driver has allowed his anger to get the better of him. One such time was during the infamous incident in 2017 with Joey Logano. During such times, M&M’s have done imaginable things for which Busch cannot be more thankful.

It was a pity to see Kyle Busch leave Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of the season last year. It was a move that nobody saw coming just like it was with M&M’s exiting NASCAR. The brand was associated with the sport for the longest of times and had a great 15-year partnership with Rowdy Busch at JGR.
The reason for their exit was best explained by JGR President, Dave Alpern. He said, “[M&M’s] wants to try some new things—and no matter how big a brand is, they have a finite budget, so when you want to try something new, it has to come from somewhere else. I don’t view it as a diminishing return or the deal wasn’t working; they just want to try some new things.”
Well, that certainly was the moment it all went downhill for Busch and JGR. While recently speaking on The Residency Podcast, the 37-year-old explained how he would have loved to have more on-track fights. He said, “I think there would be a hell lot more [fights] if it wasn’t for corporate America that we have to rely on to be able to go to the racetrack and race, right?”
This came as they discussed the brawl between Busch and Logano back in 2017 in Las Vegas. Both drivers took swings at each other, resulting in an ugly fight. Amazingly, such incidents never hampered Busch and M&M’s relationship. He then explained why.
The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion said, “You know I had the M&M’s family. They had my back. So I could get away with a lot of stuff because they knew who I was away from the track. But you know that was one of those where the family was actually like ‘Did you feel good after that?’
“And I am like ‘Yes.’ And they were like, ‘Good.'”
It is also interesting to note that M&M’s played a big role in helping Busch earn a fan following early in his career.

While making the documentary, Derek analyzed Busch’s fanbase and came to an interesting conclusion. He said, “And I’d say the majority of the Kyle fans were moms. And when I asked that question, they were like, ‘That could have been my son. This kid who’s troubled could be my son, and I want to help figure it out for him.'”

He added, “That was in the beginning when Kyle was first signed with M&M’s Racing. They had all these demographics of people who see he’s a kid that gets in a little bit of trouble here and there, but they believe is a good kid.” It is truly overwhelming to know how M&M’s helped out Busch time and again. No wonder they hold such a huge place in Busch’s heart to date.
