The contentious feud between Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway last year left many fans unsettled. Surprisingly, Kyle Larson didn’t retaliate against Bubba Wallace, raising the question: Why didn’t he fight back? Yet, Larson did address this question, but only to former NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.
During a recent episode of The Dale Jr. Download, Tony Stewart recalled the conversation he had with Kyle Larson after the infamous Las Vegas incident. Not halting there, the Stewart Haas Racing co-owner also directed a powerful message toward Bubba Wallace regarding the altercation with Larson.

During the podcast, Stewart mentioned, “Kyle’s not a fighter … I texted Kyle after the Bubba incident in Las Vegas and I was like, ‘listen, I understand he pushed you once. But the second time he did it, that’s enough. And the third time he pushed you that, I would lay his a** out.'”
“I said, ‘What, what are you doing?’ He goes, ‘Man, I’ve never been in a fight in my life and I didn’t want to get my a** kicked and in front of all these people.'”
“It’s like, I get it. All right. We’re gonna teach you how to fight though bud,” he concluded.

Upon witnessing the incident last year, Tony Stewart was bewildered by Larson’s lack of retaliation against Wallace. Taken aback by Larson’s composed demeanor, he apparently went on to say, “He had somebody pushing him and he didn’t get in a fight.”
However, it’s essential to reflect that Kyle Larson and Tony Stewart have entirely different personalities. While the former is known for maintaining his cool under pressure, the latter is quite the opposite. So much so that during his time in NASCAR, Stewart has been infamous for his on-track altercations with fellow drivers, frequently displaying his fiery temper.
The difference in their dispositions might explain why Tony Stewart was bewildered by Kyle Larson’s calm response to the tense situation. However, if he were to give Larson any advice on standing up for himself in confrontations, it would be generous. As for Larson, the nature of motorsports surely demands a less vulnerable persona going forward.
