Let’s admit it, we’ve asked the question at least once in our lives. At least, the racing fans have. How do NASCAR drivers use the bathroom? What do they do when they have to go? Well, in 2020, Dale Earnhardt Jr had given fans an answer. He’d revealed in an interview with Fox that drivers usually hold their pee when in the middle of a race. Otherwise, “If you can’t hold it, you go.” Well, it has been 3 years since then. With the rapid pace at which NASCAR undergoes change, one would expect things to evolve in this regard too.

However, what JGR Xfinity Series driver Connor Mosack said proves the theory wrong.

He was once again asked the age-old question that keeps prodding NASCAR fans’ curiosity. And what he had to answer definitely didn’t make things any less disgusting than they already were. The revelation was something even he had to come to terms with.

How do NASCAR drivers respond to nature’s call?

Contrary to popular belief, NASCAR feeling the need to pee while in the middle of a race is actually not as common as fans think it to be. However, if they still feel the need to go, the path they resort to is not the most decent.

The same question about how drivers pee was asked to Xfinity series driver Connor Mosack. And what he had to say was something we all perhaps knew, but it still doesn’t make it any less disgusting.

Thankfully I’ve never had to go to the bathroom during a race. I usually try to go right beforehand get it all out of the system. But I do know some guys that have had to pee in the seat, so thankfully I haven’t had to do that. I haven’t had to worry about my guys cleaning that up but might happen one day,” reflects Mosack. Fans thus managed to make Mosack consider such a possibility through their questions. Let’s hope he doesn’t have to repeat what Dale Earnhardt Jr suggested.

It is clear that whether drivers respond to nature’s call in the car itself, it is the crew who has to bear the brunt of the situation. Cleaning that up from the suit as well as the car seat cannot paint a pretty picture.

Well, there are several reasons for this. For one, the car gets extremely heated up while racing. Naturally, drivers start getting highly dehydrated instead of being overhydrated enough to pee. At temperatures as high as 130 degrees Fahrenheit, drivers’ bodies will try to regulate moisture in the body in the form of perspiration, not urine. So the chances of peeing while in the car are narrowed down substantially.

Moreover, going to the bathroom before racing is an entire process in NASCAR. Drivers take extreme care to not hydrate themselves much when prepping for an upcoming race. So such slipups usually don’t happen. But it’s certainly different if the drivers are suffering from some medical condition.
