It’s great news for NASCAR fans, as one of the most popular Hendrick Motorsports race drivers returning. Yes! You got that right. Chase Elliott is all set to make his return to racing cars at the upcoming Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway. Almost after six weeks in recovery due to his snowboarding injury, he’s back.
And he has a new look too!
The twenty-seven-year-old had suffered a fracture in the tibia of his left leg while snowboarding in Colorado, which forced him to miss six races. Josh Berry took the wheel of the #9 in five out of those six races, while Jordan Taylor ran the one at COTA. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is currently in the 34th position in the championship standings. However, he has gotten a waiver from NASCAR and still remains eligible for the championship.

How cool is Chase Elliott’s new look?
Elliott kept himself updated about everything that has happened in the six weeks of racing that he missed. Though he has enough chances to earn enough points to make the playoffs, he will need to win a race to secure a spot for the season. He was recently on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ aired on YouTube where he flaunted his comeback look for the season in a mustache.
The host of the show appreciated his new look and asked him if his mustache normally looks like that or does he “have the five o’clock shadow with its kind because it’s looking super cool.”
Elliott replied, “Yeah, no, I like, it’s just a little trashy. So it’s good. We’re headed in and might as well come in with a splash this weekend.”
“So I’m ready!”
He certainly looks fit and healthy after all the rest. It seems the Hendrick Motorsports driver really looks forward to his comeback race. Though it may be a little tricky for him to be on track, which requires quite a bit of foot work, in terms of braking, fans can still anticipate surprises.

Hendrick Motorsports have been in the news for a lot of reasons this season. While the 2023 season started well for them, they experienced a setback, as Chase Elliott got injured while snowboarding. After Elliott’s injury, the team did not waste any time in finding his substitute. Xfinity Series driver Josh Berry was selected as a replacement until Elliott’s return. The Rick Ware Racing team also adopted a similar approach, but in a different way.
Their driver, Cody Ware, was going to miss the race due to personal reasons. Matt Crafton, who has over 500 NASCAR Truck starts to his name, replaced him in that race. Rick Ware Racing team surprised everyone when they changed the name on the #51 car, driven by Ware to ‘Matt Crafton’, although the switch was only for one week.
In the same way, fans expected #9 to carry Berry’s name, but that did not happen. The Hendrick Motorsports team has never favored such an approach since Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove for them.
