Heading into 2024, Indy conqueror, Michael McDowell, has the wind behind the sails with a new sponsor joining the Phoenix native. The 39-year-old will be gearing up for a new campaign, starting on the right foot with Margaritaville at Sea as his new partner with the #34 Front Row Motorsports Darkhorse in a new look at the pre-season exhibition in L.A.

McDowell will run the custom-built, quarter-mile track looking to start a new chapter with the perfect setup, hoping to take FRM’s Ford to the victory lane in the season opener on Sunday.

McDowell will kick off his 17th season in NASCAR’s elite division this weekend on Sunday with a new sponsor powering the FRM Ford as Margaritaville at Sea celebrates the launch of its newest ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Islander this summer. The driver will in fact race the #34 Margaritaville at Sea FRM Dark Horse during The Clash at The Coliseum at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum; a purpose-built track inside the famous stadium.

The pre-season exhibition event will begin Saturday, February 3 at 6:10 p.m. ET with a practice and qualifying session televised live on FS1. The Ford driver will eye to make the most out of his venture especially, with the new sponsor, a shipping behemoth powering the Cup car while the fandom is already thrilled to end the bland off-season with MGK singing his tunes to start off the Stock Car extravaganza.

The Clash will be a testing ground for the #34 team that comes back with a new setup. The race at Coliseum will mark the first track test for the new season, but familiar faces. Travis Peterson will return as the crew chief alongside the team’s new sponsor, Horizon Hobby returns to Front Row Motorsports for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign, serving as a two-race primary sponsor of Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Ford Mustang.

Peterson said, “We’re not going to miss a beat from the success that we saw out of Michael last season. We’re going to pick up where the team was at the end of 2023 and our goal is only to improve on what has been built. The Clash is a chance for us to knock off some rust and get back into the rhythm of traveling, putting in full days at the track, and working on our communication with Michael.”

“Our goal is to leave The Clash with a top-10 result. Michael enjoyed The Clash last year and had some success passing cars and he had good speed. As a team, we expect nothing less than the same effort with an even better result,” added the crew chief, detailing his team’s goals for Clash.
