About last month, both Denny Hamlin and former NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr had brought up the argument about altering the way NASCAR plays out the championship four race. Recently, while talking over a podcast, Michael Jordan’s racing team’s driver for 2023 and beyond, Tyler Reddick, gave his thoughts on Hamlin and Junior’s theory.

In a Dirty Mo Media’s Door Bumper Clear podcast Reddick stated, “Denny is Great. Yeah. I mean, you could go either way with this, right? Like what’s gonna be the most exciting, I think, when you have a one-race finale, it attracts that really opens up the door for drivers. Put it on the line. Make that mistake. Cost them every single chance of winning the Championship or not. Like a Homestead or some of these tracks that we have where you can really go for it. And have that risk versus reward.”

Denny Hamlin has been in the sport for a very long time and has not been able to clinch a title yet. Though he has shown great performance in his time. There always have been kinks that have failed to help him in the championship four-round.

Reddick further explained, “But when I don’t know, I mean, you can kind of go for it and restart Phoenix around the apron. But I mean, it’s just not the same type of race track. Certainly, it’s about having a perfect day. But I don’t know. I could go either way on this. I mean, I love racing for it. In one race. It’s worked really well for me at Homestead.”

With Reddick heading off to 23XI Racing in 2023, Richard Childress Racing picked up Kyle Busch to replace him.

What did Denny Hamlin suggest about the championship race?

Hamlin had proposed for the final championship race to be extended into three races, instead of just one. He was against the idea that only a single final race was used to determine the outcome of the championship.

Back in November, the JGR driver tweeted that he agreed that the round of four was great. However, there should have been a greater sample size to determine the champion. He suggested that there should be 3 races for the championship four. A total of 12 races throughout the playoffs.

Before Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr has also stated the problem with the “round of four.” He mentioned that such a system should be removed. Arguing that it was “frustrating” to watch for a fan. Moreover, he wouldn’t be able to imagine it if he was still racing.
