Jimmie Johnson has been known to possess a calm and composed personality. Imagining anything flamboyant from him off the track has always been more than a stretch. However, against all odds, Johnson’s Thanksgiving avatar seems to have made the NASCAR world go crazy about it.

The year 2023 hasn’t been an easy one for Jimmie Johnson and his family. He tragically lost his in-laws earlier this year in July. But with the Cup Series driver’s recent social media post, it seems there is some spirit of festivity after all.

It is not often that Jimmie Johnson surprises the NASCAR fans with his outfits. However, it was a different case when he posted his Thanksgiving dress-up on social media. Johnson donned a Scottish-style kilt along with fellow motorsport colleagues Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti.

Safe to say, Dixon and Franchitti have both enjoyed a stellar career. With six championship wins in IndyCar, Dixon is undoubtedly one of the series’ finest drivers of all time. What makes him even more amazing is his three victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona. Having said that, Franchitti has been no less legendary in his career.

The Scottish driver has four IndyCar Series championships, three Indianapolis 500 wins, and a 24 Hours of Daytona victory to his name. While Franchitti and Dixon have been big names in their own arena, Jimmie Johnson made his name in the NASCAR Cup Series.

It is only understandable how these great drivers get along well. In fact, they must have a special bond that they convinced each other to wear the kilt on Thanksgiving. Now that was highly unexpected, especially from Johnson. Witnessing him do this, certainly made his fans go wild.

It is worth noting that Jimmie Johnson, Scott Dixon, and Dario Franchitti celebrated Thanksgiving along with their wives. While the men donned the skirt-like apparel, the wives wore different outfits. Most likely, the three drivers decided to be more in sync as compared to their better-halves.

This certainly made the fans go wild. With Johnson posting this, one fan complimented, “Ok, men in skirts ya’ll must be in Scotland – love it!! The ladies look super fine”. Another fan spoke on similar lines but was highly surprised with the former Hendrick Motorsports driver’s outfit. He said, “JIMMY JOHNSON IN A SKIRT! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY NASCAR  nah but fr tho you look so good in it”.

Even former IndyCar Series driver Paul Tracy and Xfinity Series driver Parker Kligerman reacted to the post. Tracy said, “Dario tried and tried and tried to get me to put a skirt on … maybe I should have listened if he talked 2 guys with 14 championships into it.” On the other hand, Kligerman kept it short by saying, “What a gentleman”.

While there was positivity all around, few fans tried to break the bubble. One fan said to Johnson, “JJ, I think you have fallen in with a bad crowd…” Another critic said, “Some traditions are better off left in the past”.

However, the power of Thanksgiving and the positivity that comes with it couldn’t take away the delight Johnson brought with his outfit. It is certainly good to see NASCAR and other motorsport drivers get along well. As far as the kilts are concerned, Johnson and his friends surely managed to surprise plenty. That was some way to wish his fans a happy holiday season.
