Dale Earnhardt Jr used to be one of the most popular NASCAR drivers during his time and presently, he is one of the most popular analysts. The 48-year-old talks about a number of topics on his show related to the sport. However, there are times in his episodes when he shares light-hearted and humorous moments.
In a recent episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, he shared a story about going to dinner with his friends in Pocono and coming across something he had never heard of before.

Speaking to his close friend and co-host Mike Davis, Dale Jr recalled a dinner he went to a week ago at Pocono. According to the former Cup Series driver, one of his friends had ordered something called a ‘medium plus’ steak. A medium plus steak is a steak that is 10 degrees warmer than medium, but not medium well. The whole concept of such a type of steak was hard to grasp for Jr, who found it hilarious and unnecessary.
“So I’m sitting there at dinner in Pocono and I get a salmon plate and pretty much everybody else gets a steak and the lady asks, ‘well how do you want it cooked’, and the guy says medium plus. And I said, ‘what the hell’, and he’s like yeah medium plus and I’m like, I mean is that like medium rare? What the hell? Why won’t you just say medium rare? That’s silly. Plus? What is this,” Dale Jr said.
“I’ve never heard anybody say, ‘I want my steak medium plus.’ And everyone at the table made it sound like this totally common term. Like it’s just been there all their lives, right? I’m 49 this year, and I’m hearing medium plus for the very first time. And so, apparently, medium plus is like ten degrees warmer than medium, but it’s not medium well. Like it’s right in the middle between medium and medium well.”
As per the former NASCAR driver, he proceeded to have a full-on argument about the concept of a medium plus steak, which was amusing both to him and Mike Davis. It ended up being a hilarious moment in the episode.
“I’m sitting there having this argument. Why do you gotta be such a high-maintenance **** and ask for a medium plus? When you order that is the chef back there pumping his fist going ‘hell yeah! I’m looking for a challenge,’” he added.
NASCAR will travel to Michigan this coming weekend after a pretty uneventful race in Richmond. For Dale Jr, Michigan is a track that is close to his heart. He won two races in the Cup Series at the track and had a fight to remember with his father in the 1999 IROC Series race.

According to a report, Dale Jr said that he was looking forward to visiting the track, this time as a broadcaster. He reminisced about his time coming to the Michigan International Speedway as a racer and the countless memories he has had over his illustrious career.
“I’m excited to get back to Michigan, to be able to broadcast the races, it’s a lot of fun. I’ve always enjoyed coming here. When I was racing, and even when I started broadcasting, I used to take my bike to a lake about 2 miles from the track. It’s so fun to ride around the big giant loop around this lake. I’ve always enjoyed the area. Having the wins there helps. But it’s always been a great place to visit,” he said as per mlive.com.
