The signing of two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch by Richard Childress Racing is not likely to leave the headlines anytime soon.

Recently in Bristol, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick said that his team should have been more aggressive in signing the current Joe Gibbs Racing driver for the 2023 season. However, things didn’t turn out in his favor.

Other than Busch driving the #8 for RCR next year, he also owns a NASCAR Truck Series team which will most likely field Chevrolet because of his contract with RCR.

In the same interview at Bristol, the #4 driver of SHR said, “Richard loves to win.

Even when Kyle finishes second, he’s mad, and that’s very Richard Childress. Richard may do a better job of covering it up and talking about it.

Richard Childress is a hardcore racer. He has no intentions to do anything else other than win. I think that the move he just made shows you that.

It’s just not RC who enjoys winning, his recent signing also has the same mindset when it comes to winning races.

Kyle Busch and his winning mindset

In an interview with Graham Bensinger, the two-time champion talked candidly about the mindset he has with each and every race.

Bensinger asked, “You said, “I’m pretty much my own worst critic” which is kind of bad to be, how so?

The owner of KBM replied, “I hate losing more than I enjoy winning.”

Even in a win there’s things that I look back on wins and I’m like that could have been better. So like to me, maybe it’s because I’m too much of a “perfectionist” and I can always look at the negatives to everything instead of the positives to things.

After this, the journalist asked, “Do you think that’s bad though?

This question led to the 37-year-old raising arms and showing things around while saying, “It’s turned me into this.”

“I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It’s just a way of figuring out how to control all of that, harness all of that, use all of that to your advantage.”

I’ve gotten a little bit better and a little bit smarter of that over the years, but definitely in my younger years I was not as…Charismatic,“. Busch continued in the end.
