With just three races remaining in the season, young, hotheaded Truck Series drivers entered the grand arena at the Talladega Superspeedway. Hard, intense racing was expected, but not many would have anticipated those aggressive sparks flying outside the track. Neither did Truck Series driver Nick Sanchez, who was at the receiving end after Saturday’s race in Talladega.
Following an on-track altercation between Sanchez and former Truck Series champion and Hailie Deegan‘s teammate in the 93rd lap, which was the catalyst for a massive multi-car wreck that changed the race winds, the pair tried to resolve the matter with their fists. The fight turned violent behind the scenes as the 22-year-old youngster was seen bleeding after their scuffle.

NASCAR has already begun investigating the bloody incident after the race. When racing action gets so intense and close, it is only natural for some of the drivers to feel enraged at developments in the race. However, on the track, Rev Racing driver Nick Sanchez was the one at fault. The tussle between the rookie and the veteran began in the first overtime of the race.
An ambitious Sanchez nosedived into Crafton’s truck in the middle lane of traffic, which set off a chain reaction as the cars entangled and spun into the middle of the road. Following this, while Sanchez went on to finish 7th, Crafton had to retire from the day with a 24th-place finish. This infuriated Crafton and tested the waters of his patience, which made him confront Nick Sanchez later on.
After a flurry of blows from each driver, Nick Sanchez was seen being separated from the 47-year-old. As the two were being moved away from each other, they went into an expletive-laden exchange, making things more interesting for Homestead-Miami. Sanchez blurted in anger, “I’m gonna f**king kill you in Homestead. You f**ked with the wrong guy, mo***rf**ker.”
Crafton didn’t back out of the fight either, reciprocating in kindness, as he shouted, “I’ll whip your a**, I got you at Homestead, bi**h.” After being taken to the infield medical center to tend to his wounds, Sanchez explained the build-up to the fight in a relaxed manner.

Getting to watch the consequences of hard racing up close, the Miami native said, “Yeah, I mean, I was walking back to the hauler tapping my back, got punched in the face. Cheap shot, but it is what it is I guess. Yeah, I’m all for fighting but you know, no cheap shots. I got a cheap shot, and never really had a chance to get him back but it is what it is. It’s a part of racing.“

Despite the fact that it was Nick Sanchez who was primarily at fault, he showed professionalism after the dust settled down to keep matters on the field. Crafton, on the other hand even after being far more experienced than the other, displayed no control over his emotions, letting his fist go wild after the race.

The events that transpired in the fight between Sanchez and Crafton have shaken up the community. Some have started to compare it with other iconic fights that went out of hand, while many have also demanded a suspension for Crafton and his team for Homestead.
NASCAR fans on Reddit have already decided their stances on the issue. One of the comments described how bad the outcome of the situation was, as he commented, “That’s the ugliest I’ve seen a driver look after a post-race altercation in some time. He got busted open pretty bad.”
Another fan went into a deeper look at the video, highlighting that Crafton might not be the one who started the violence and calling for an indefinite ban on the crew members if they were the ones to attack Nick Sanchez. He replied, “I don’t see Crafton anywhere. If it was the crew guys that fucked him up, they need to never set foot on a race track ever again.”

“If Crafton just straight up assaulted him, he should be suspended. I’ve been a Crafton fan for nearly his entire career, but that seems extremely fucked up” read another reply, calling the visuals from the fight too uncharacteristic for the veteran.
