Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Ryan Truex, has won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race in a double overtime finish. The 32-year-old was up against a fellow part-time driver, Carson Kvapil, during the final restart of the race. And managed to snatch the lead from the JR Motorsports driver in the first lap of overtime, before a caution ended the race. Truex with this effort bagged back-to-back wins at the Monster Mile. His first career win came last season at the racetrack driving the No. 19 JGR car.
It was a frantic end to the race, which almost got washed out due to rain. Sheldon Creed, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier were all in the running for the win. However, making the most of the opportunity, the JGR driver managed to seal his victory with the late heroics.
With a good streak of results and a couple of wins under his belt, perhaps it is about time, Ryan Truex also gets his fair shot at running a full-time schedule. His run with Kaulig Racing in 2018 was the only time he ran a full-season, but since then he has only run part-time schedules.

A redemption run for Ryan Truex after his disappointing end at Talladega
Funny how quickly things change in NASCAR racing. Last weekend, Truex crashed out of the race at Talladega and blew his chances to compete in Cash4Dash at Dover. However, back in his mind, he was confident about returning to the venue where he had found joy. Moreover, he also spoke about chasing his dream of being a competitive race car driver.
Last weekend, after crashing out, he shared his feelings about going into Dover weekend with Bob Pockrass. “Obviously, the cars are fast, and I have a good track record there, so we’ll see. I’m looking forward to it… There’s still a trophy to go win and a race to go defend. Continue to prove why I deserve to be here. And continue to make this thing happen that I’m trying to make happen for 15 years now.”
Ryan was beyond belief, emerging victorious at the Monster Mile after manifesting it a week ago. “I can’t believe it. Our car was just good at the end when it mattered. I was so loose all day… Shoutout to Carson! What an amazing run, like it was his second race? Yeah, I felt a little bad running him up the hill. But man, you got to take these things when you can. Thank you so much for the fans for being here. Love this track, love this crowd, just can’t believe it.”

Having taken care of Austin Hill in the first overtime restart, Kvapil’s win was all but secured. The only thing he needed to do was run strong and take the white flag after the restart. However, as soon as the race went back to green, he was pressured by the experienced campaigner, Ryan Turex. Having command of the inside lane, the JGR driver bumped Kvapil off the lead and took the lead, confirming his second career win.

“I don’t know, we had a pretty good restart on the one before with Hill there. God it sucks, right? You get that close. I really don’t even know what to say… I’m happy that I had the shot at winning the race in the end there, we had a good car, but I couldn’t get a good restart. That was pretty questionable about the top line, my car seemed to pim the bottom the whole day, but it seems the top was so dominant, and he just barely got us through going into the 3,” Kvapil said after the race.
Hopefully, the 20-year-old will get more opportunities to compete in more Xfinity races and bounce back to winning ways after today’s results.
