Mark Martin has recently been doing the rounds on social media among racing fans but not because of anything he did related to racing. As an old tweet by the former Cup Series driver dissing Canadian hip-hop artist Drake was unearthed by a fan on Reddit, people were intrigued to learn what happened between the two, and the revelation of the same sent some fans into utter shock.

The former Roush Racing driver is a NASCAR legend. Mark Martin might not have won the Cup Series in his career but he came second on 5 different occasions. He also has the second-most wins in the Xfinity Series with 49. Apart from racing, it turns out that the 64-year-old was no stranger to the hip-hop scene, taking part in the occasional dissing of an artist.

It was recently revealed that Mark Martin is a good friend of American rapper Gucci Mane. The two seem to be pretty tight as Mane had publicly congratulated the NASCAR legend when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Being such close friends, Martin did not have any soft corners for the ones Mane had beef with, one of which was Drake.

As per a report in NME, Mane had called out several artists in a scathing and explicit Twitter rant in 2013, that has since been deleted. Drake was one of the people Mane criticized, calling him a “male groupie”, and accusing of plagiarizing music.

The 43-year-old later apologized to the people he called out, including Drake, stating that he had done it under the influence of narcotics. “I wanna personally apologize to birdman ross & drake…I 100% regret my words & actions,” he said as per an article in Complex.

While it is unclear when Mark Martin tweeted his feelings about the Canadian rapper, one could argue that perhaps there was more than what meets the eye with Gucci Mane and Drake. Being a close friend of the former, the ex-NASCAR driver had written, “Drake is soft like tissue” on Twitter.

The revelation about the two friends dissing Drake recently made rounds on Reddit and made NASCAR fans go completely berserk.

It all started when a curious fan on Reddit asked the context behind Mark Martin’s comment about Drake. “Anybody know the contexts of mark’s tweet? I’m guessing it’s a rap lyric,” they wrote.

Another user chimed in with his opinion, stating that the former NASCAR driver had written it as an answer to a fan. “A fan was asking Mark if he liked Drake. Mark shut that down immediately. And he’s right, because Drake only ever does wack s**t.”

Another fan looked up the history between Mark Martin and Gucci Mane and after confirming the fact, acknowledged being left stunned. “Wait. What. You aren’t joking. I’m stunned. Like. Idk what to do,” they commented.

The fact that Mane congratulated Martin on being inducted into the Hall of Fame was then brought to light by another user. “I’ll do you one better, Gucci Mane congratulated him entering the Hall of Fame too,” they wrote.
