Brexton Busch has finally made a big leap in his racing career with a Golden Driller win at the Tulsa Shootout. At just nine years old, he’s following in the footsteps of greats like Jeff Gordon, who had a similar trajectory before bursting onto the NASCAR stage. And bagging a Golden Driller trophy is something that his dad, Kyle Busch, can be proud of.
Well, both Samantha and Kyle Busch held back their tears, watching their son lift his first major honors. Just like his father, B-Rex has quite a following on social media, and his supporters flooded his posts with congratulatory comments. However, one comment in particular stood out, and it was by none other than legendary NASCAR driver Mark Martin.

The Tulsa Shootout was a big event for the entire Busch family, so much so that both Samantha and Kyle celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary at the SageNet Center. Although Rowdy’s pretty much seen the highest of the highs, winning multiple championship trophies and race wins at NASCAR, seeing his son win his first major trophy was just special.
It wasn’t just a normal win; the nine-year-old dominated his rivals. He led the race from the get-go and didn’t lose his composure throughout the 20-lap run. This was Brexton’s fourth attempt to win the Jr. Sprints division at the Tulsa Shootout. He did qualify for the main event last year but had to settle for a 12th-place win. Proud of finally bagging the Golden Driller, he took to Instagram and wrote, “Dreams do come true.😌” And reacting to his message, Mark Martin replied, “🙌,” acknowledging the young driver’s grit and determination to be able to win a major event.
Well, Kyle Busch had a roller coaster of a ride in terms of his emotions, seeing his son competing for a big win. “I think this is more stress and more butterflies on me here for him than it is for the Daytona 500. This is such a huge deal and means so much to our family and what we do. It’s what we pour our lives into and how we take away from our anniversary week, and we spend it in Tulsa every year now. This is worth it. Just can’t be prouder of the boy and everything he’s done.”

Mom Samantha Busch, reacting to this massive win, added, “I was crying; I’m so proud. He’s worked at this; he was so upset last year. Literally every race he went to this year, he was like, ‘I’m doing it for Tulsa. I’m doing it for the Driller.’ And he did it. He’s so happy.” Kyle Larson’s son Owen also competed in the same race and managed a sixth-place finish after starting the race in fourth spot.
However, Brexton’s post-race shenanigans have got Samantha Busch worried about his son’s safety.

Samantha Busch isn’t a fan of seeing her son enjoy a bit of speed
Trending
The nine-year-old driver has proved his mettle that he can handle high-speed races. But Samantha, being a mother, is extra concerned and worried about her son’s safety. Apart from his on-track racing, she keeps a close eye on his antics and pretty much keeps him away from enjoying the thrill of high speed, be it on his toy bike or modified race car. But now that he has won the Golden Driller, he just might get a green light from his mom as he has a brand new Burromax pit bike to tinker with.
When asked about his new bike, Brexton replied, “Oh, my mom’s so mad right now about the Burromax; right now, she hates me on stuff that goes really fast. She is not going to like this. But I love it.” He also spoke about the sketchy moment he had during the race that just might have foiled his plans to celebrate a Golden Driller victory.

“I was definitely very lucky to not get into some lap traffic; I was going to… I was a little worried about that. But still, just awesome to win. I thought that one time, on lap 14… whenever Eli had to pull in and Jax was right behind me, I thought I gave it away when I hit the brim one up. So I’m glad that I did it,” the young racer added. However, even if he did get into traffic, the rising star showcased his prowess in the heat race by clawing his way back from 6th position to win FuelTech Race 135.
The 2025 season has started on a high note for the Busch family, and these might be signs that even Rowdy might overturn his misfortunes at RCR with a strong comeback run. Do you think Kyle Busch can take inspiration from his son and end his Cup Series winless streak in 2025?
