In the most bizarre and wild moments of the day during the NASCAR Truck Series race at COTA, Marco Andretti lost the entire rear end of his No.4 Truck with just two final laps to go in the race. The driver Andretti made it safely out of the truck, but the rear end of his ride spun across the race tracks into the field.

This incident allowed the chasing pack behind Corey Heim to conjure one last final push to win the race. However, Heim was in a league of his own leading the charge the entirety of the final stage, but with overtime in play and the driver hungry for track position, it did make for an exciting finish to this race.

The Truck Series race at the Circuit of the Americas had everything. Early jitters, different lap leaders, several cautions, comeback stories, and scary incidents. While NASCAR races have seen a fair share of carnage, Marco Andretti’s incident with his No. 4 truck was something no one has ever seen before.

The entire rear-end housing of his truck just snapped while he was trying to finish the race with just two laps to go. The only saving grace was that he wasn’t at a high speed, and the rear end just landed safely on the inside of the race track without hitting any incoming traffic.

Sharing the details about the incident, Marco Andretti said, “Just big vibrations through the brake, pedal, throttle, and acceleration. Just huge vibrations… Never seen that happen. I’m happy that it didn’t happen like at speed; that would have been pretty bad.”

He also went on to express his disappointment with the team, stating, “We are limping around, like I didn’t have second gear. I would say I’m done with these character builders. I think my character is built, and we’re ready for a straightforward weekend because I haven’t been able to fight yet this season. And it’s getting a little frustrated.”

Andretti’s accident led to a late caution in the race, at a time when Corey Heim was leading the field by some distance. However, with just 2 laps to go, a caution resulted in overtime and thus allowed the likes of Taylor Gray and Ty Majeski to close the gap on the leader. After leading the entirety of the final stage, Heim had to fend off the late charge by his rivals, and he was successful in doing so.

While he did have a scary moment during the restart, he was quick to adapt and set his eyes straight for the finish line. He took the checkered flag with a margin of just 1.625 seconds, just registering his first win at the 3.41-mile Austin, Texas, road course. Also, this was his first win of the season after repeated missed chances.
