He secured his first victory at the iconic Daytona 500 in 2018, driving the legendary No. 3 car, a true NASCAR icon, to victory. This achievement, exactly 20 years after the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr clinched the Daytona 500 for Richard Childress Racing, was nothing short of historic. Also, Dillon’s sentiment after the victory eloquently captured the essence of the moment. “This one is for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and all those Sr. fans. I love you guys, we’re gonna keep kicking bu*t the rest of the year.”
During their conversation, Chris Wilner asked Dillon, “Even though you’ve had most of your Cup success at Daytona. Is there another track in the schedule that’s kind of your favorite? Or is it Daytona and just how the special memories you’ve made there already in your career?”
“Daytona’s gotta be up there,” said Dillon. “A lot of memories made there, and it’s a good place to win. Victory lane is probably the best in the sport.”
To his credit, Richard Childress has recently secured a multi-year, multi-race sponsorship deal. He partnered with America’s largest personal injury law firm for both of his drivers Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon.
