Everybody knows that Michael Jordan loves racing. And another thing he loves more than that is golf. But what happens when these two combine? Here’s what NASCAR driver and 23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin shared about the time when he played golf with Michael Jordon.

In an episode of the Dan Patrick Show, Denny Hamlin opened up about how Michael Jordan and his ‘threesome’ caused a lot of problems for him. During the interview, Hamlin reminisced about the time when he and his friends decided to play golf with MJ.

Hamlin explained; “There’s one thing in his group I found out. You cannot play slow. Period. And when I say slow, I had my group of friends fly down with me to go play. And I joined his group which now made us a sevensome. And they (MJ and his friends) were a threesome behind us and we played in three hours and five minutes for our sevensome.”

Further, the 23XI co-owner shared; “We literally waited on them (for the threesomes) for twenty minutes into play. You always got to play from the back, all the way from the tips. That’s just the normal deal but I’m telling you, you drive to your ball and you hit.”

“Like if there is someone 15 yards in front of you dang it to their ball yet ‘Hey 4! Just heads up. It’s coming over your head.  So, there’s a lot of trust in those guys.”

However, this is not Hamlin’s only golf-course story about MJ. Surprisingly, one of the most important news Hamlin ever received was related to a golf course, and of course Michael Jordan.

Denny Hamlin admitted on the second episode of Netflix’s ‘Race: Bubba Wallace’ that he is an avid golf player. Moreover, the NASCAR driver has his own home golf course. And this home golf course is something that is very special for Hamlin and 23XI Racing.

Hamlin revealed that one day, he came across a speculative article that Michael Jordan is interested in investing in a NASCAR team. Hamlin, who already knew Jordan because of his sponsorship deal with MJ’s Jordan Brand, decided to ask the NBA legend about the truth via text.

Hamlin said; “I’ll never forget, I was on the ninth hole of my home golf course and I was like, ‘Should I send Michael this article? Let me get his temperature here. And I sent it to him and he responded immediately, says ‘Haha, obviously fake news, not real, but if you want to make it real news let me know?’

However, just a few months later, this golf course conversation turned into a reality. And as a result, 23XI Racing became a part of the NASCAR fam.
