All of this certainly tests your faith,” said the legendary Kyle Busch, whose #8 Chevrolet ZL1 for RCR has pushed even the most seasoned racers to the edge. A 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, he dominated the sport in ways few could imagine. But despite his incredible success on the track, he has faced unimaginable heartbreak off it. His wife, Samantha Busch, suffered a miscarriage, an experience that continues to haunt them with sheer sadness.

On December 1st, 2018, Kyle Busch’s wife shared a heart-wrenching story of losing her baby with her IG followers. With tears in her eyes, she let her followers know that her stomach started hurting, and she bled, leading to the miscarriage. “Earlier this week, I suffered a miscarriage and we lost our baby girl. On Tuesday afternoon I suddenly began bleeding very heavily and we quickly rushed to the doctor. We had the smallest sliver of hope that she would make it because my cervix was still closed and the doctor believed he saw the sac still in my uterus but was unsure.”

Seven long years had passed since this unfortunate incident. Samantha is now the proud mother of a baby girl, Lennix Key, whose arrival almost two years ago brought immense joy to their family. Still, deep down, the pain of losing a child to miscarriage has hardly gone out of Samantha’s mind. She appeared on Haley Dillon’s Believe in the Good with Haley Dillon podcast and shared her struggle post-miscarriage and the self-blaming that started afterwards.

You know you and your husband are fighting nonstop and you are so disappointed in yourself and in your body and who you are that you lost that baby, even though, yes, I know it wasn’t my fault. But you’re like having this like hatred towards yourself and then you’re fighting with your husband and then you’re putting on this whole mask so that you could be this perfect mom and like channel all your energy into that because you’re like, well, I can’t f**k that up too, you know, like that’s how I really felt and it’s so hard. And I think that’s where you know. A lot of people struggle because it’s a lot of emotions and as somebody who has like a psychology background, I’m like go to counseling because you need that third party person to just help you guys get out of that spiral. You still have to be a mother during all that. And I don’t think that’s something people don’t think about,” she said.

Both Kyle and Samantha have been open about their grief, sharing how they navigated the sadness. But  Samantha’s recent confession drew renewed attention as she revealed her steps to help herself heal in the aftermath, something that resonated with their followers.

She is a philanthropist and an active IVF advocate who helped many couples with her Bundle of Joy Fund with Kyle Busch in terms of IVF-related procedures and costs. She also spoke about this in an interview in 2020, “Seeing the families we have helped with their babies has helped us to make sense of our own difficult journey to conceive. It was worth all the pain, shots, the months of trying and roller coaster of emotions because it gave us the unique perspective of what these couples face and a strong desire to want to help others.”

Samantha’s husband, Kyle Busch, also laid bare his heart open to People magazine in December 2018, “We had wanted to be transparent in our IVF journey, but it truly never crossed our mind that it wouldn’t work the second time around. Usually, the second time is so much easier. Having a miscarriage never even crossed our minds. All of this certainly tests your faith, There is just this endless list of questions as to [the] whys and hows. Inside, you know things happen for a reason, but it’s so hard.”

The moment surely burdened Samantha and her husband with immense pain at that time, but she overcame it like a warrior. And, she never shied away from bringing that topic to public awareness, much like her difficulty in connecting with traditional Catholic rituals.

Much like her straightforwardness with her pregnancy struggle, Samantha also openly talked about issues with her spirituality and faith. Born and raised in a Catholic family, Samantha always struggled to associate with the old-school approach of Catholicism. “ I grew up Catholic and especially as a kid did my best to stay awake during mass, she wrote in an IG post.

In that same post, she talked about finding a church whose worship practices satisfied her. “I am so happy to have found a church that fits my worship style especially that they play the music loud so I can belt out the words with my awful singing voice.” Yesterday, she celebrated Easter with her newfound Elevation Church, bringing her whole family, which expressed how content she felt with her choices. “He is not here; He is risen, just as He said 🙌 Grateful to attend a beautiful service with my family to hear just how much our God loves us. @elevationlkn @elevationchurch,” she wrote in her IG post.
