Being the youngest driver to win the 2021 USAC National Series at just 15 years of age is no small feat. In 2025, he is already being compared to Kyle Larson. In fact, Larson himself had referred to him as the “best prospect” in the driver’s market which has further added to his glory. Kyle Larson had an inspiring season in 2024. Despite not making it to the championship 4, he ended up winning six races and was arguably the best driver on the grid. Now, Larson looks to inspire the future of Hendrick Motorsports, Corey Day.
Corey Day has undoubtedly become one of the rising stars in motorsports. After signing a multiyear deal with one of the top teams like Hendrick Motorsports, he has fixed his spot. For the upcoming 2025 season, Day will run part-time schedules for the NASCAR Xfinity Series with the Hendrick program. However, he will first focus on the Chili Bowl Nationals which is scheduled from January 13th to 18th. Currently, he is at Tulsa for the practice run and it seems as though fans are not very impressed with his behavior.

The fact that he achieved all of this quite fast has made people compare Day with Larson’s supremacy on tracks. Speaking of the comparison, Day had said, “It’s an honor to be compared to Kyle Larson. He is, in my opinion, and I’m sure a lot of other people’s, the best race car driver in the world. So to be compared to him and talked about in the same sentence is really cool”.
However, it looks like for Corey Day, one of the most important moves on track is to wreck another driver or show unnecessary aggression. Only recently, he was at the practice session for the Tulsa Shootout and the driver turned out to be much more aggressive than you thought. As Colby Copeland tried to overtake Day, the latter scooped him down with a slight tap. That was not the end though. Just as Day crossed over Copeland, the 19-year-old flipped the bird at Copeland, which was not well-received by the community.
FloRacing shared the video on their Instagram channel that was captioned as “😳 Corey Day let Colby Copeland know he’s No. 1 during Sunday’s #ChiliBowl practice.”

Speaking of Corey Day’s ARCA Menards days, he was involved in a late-race incident with Toni Breidinger, rather deliberately. Not only that, during the ARCA race at Kansas, Day pushed Andy Jankowiak during the final lap. While fans had just started to admire his skills, an exhibition of the old aggression could again take him to the negative end for the fans.

The Chili Bowl Nationals practice session showcased how Corey Day did not need to get entangled in an unnecessary bid, and still, he did. This has enraged fans who are pretty sure that he is again going to try these tactics not only at the Chili Bowl but even during his stint at NASCAR. Speaking of how this move was similar to a tandem, where one car hits the back of the other car just to garner some speed, a fan commented, “Just some tandem at the Chili Bowl standard”.
Another fan resonated with the feeling of how Day is always seen wrecking someone or the other, irrespective of which race he is appearing for. Adding to the same, the fan commented, “Everytime I see Corey, he’s wrecking someone”. Drawing similarities with NASCAR driver Ross Chastain who has a similar approach and is often seen being chirpy with other drivers, “Day can’t keep himself out of troublesome predicaments. He’s gonna make a lot of enemies. He’s like Chastain”.
However, one fan took the view that Day was showing off his competitive nature in a practice that had $20,000 on the line. “I forgot you get 20 grand for winning practice 😂😂” On the contrary, another fan rightfully pointed out how this practice session does not decide who is going to be the winner on the final run. . Speaking of the same, the fan said, “Not winning on practice day day, just chill”.
