Rick Ware Racing’s part-time driver, Cody Ware, is having a hard time staying out of trouble in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Gateway Motorsports Park. He was involved in not just one but two back-to-back early incidents in the race. Trying to trade blows early in the race against John Hunter Nemechek, he spun his #15 car across the race track, flagging the first caution.

But that was not it; he once again found himself involved in a scrap-up, this time with the youngster Derek Kraus from Kaulig Racing. These two early cautions, allowed many teams and drivers to rethink their strategy. Multiple drivers came down the pit road to get a fresh set of tires, with only a halfway mark in stage 1.

This was just his second race this season after being reinstated by NASCAR. He was banned from racing last year, in April, after he was charged with assault by strangulation and assault causing serious injury to his ex-girlfriend. He took charge of the #15 RWR Ford car at Talladega and finished 24. But he could get his bearing right at the World Wide Technology Raceway and could only muster up a P33 result.

Moreover, even RFK Racing joined in the fun as they looked to point out the mistake made by Bob Pockrass while reporting Cody’s first caution on X, “no Waution?”

Highlighting his mistakes for being involved in both incidents early in the race, others demanded to get him off the race track. “Cody Ware just needs to stop smh. He needs to park it”.

Some fans were frustrated to see FOX continue its trend of missing out on major events from the race: “Still on commercial, only ten laps in, not even side by side. Take notes from indycar”.

A fuming Kaz Grala fan wasn’t pleased to see Cody Ware back in action and causing trouble in the race. “Get Cody Ware the hell out of here…the fact Kaz Grala doesn’t have a full time ride because of that clown is an indictment on RWR and completely unacceptable”.

After today’s disappointing run at Gateway Park, Cody Ware still has eight more races left on his part-time schedule for the season. His best career finish came at the Coke 400 race at Daytona back in 2022, and he will look to match or better this stat in upcoming events.
