NASCAR recently announced its new endeavor in Chicago – a street race. However, to the governing body’s surprise, very few supported the idea of putting stock cars on the streets. Because not only is it dangerous, a failure at any level can attract tons of criticism from across the world.

And now, there is a possibility that the motorsport world might dabble into similar opportunities in the future too. In a recent tweet by Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, news surrounding the possibility of hosting future NASCAR street races surprised the fans.
Many of them were unhappy with the probability of a second street race. Whereas it disappointed others with the fact that, again, Las Vegas could be the venue. On the flip side, there was sheer disappointment amongst fans with the whole Formula 1 and NASCAR comparison.
Most fans don’t even want a Chicago street race. But by all means. Let’s add a second parade to the schedule. 🙄

LVMS doesn't deserve two races. I don't think the city does. They don't support the series.

It’s a great idea but we don’t need to have 3 races at the same place

No way the sports will make that event remotely as successful after F1 goes first. F1 will sell out the entire weekend and NASCAR will flop

Why dont we just make a NASCAR street course series and call it a day, too many of these road courses are showing up, just make a 10 race road course/ street course series and call it a day

Well, that’s kind of understandable. NASCAR fans are yet to come to terms with the first announcement regarding the upcoming Chicago street race. And now, with the possibility of more such races in the future, no one knows how to react to it all.

NASCAR races are already risky enough. With the issues surrounding the new Next Gen cars, the risk of racing on the streets just looks like an added risk burden. Moreover, it’s imperative for the governing body to note that they design the current NASCAR cars for the ovals and not for street racing.
However, if it succeeds, it definitely will be a huge step for the sport. Sharing his views on it, NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin said; “It’s probably going to be definitely more about the event than the race… You put us on a street course, more likely we’re gonna have tight confines. It doesn’t need to be a great race, just a spectacle in general.”
