This year, Kevin Harvick‘s name has been on everyone’s lips, especially since he announced his plan to retire after the 2023 season. Yet, no matter how often fans witness his races, Harvick has always left them wanting more. This insatiable appetite for his presence on the track might explain why this year, Kevin Harvick has stolen the spotlight as the top-selling diecast, a title previously held by Ross Chastain.

It seems that fans are eager to hold on to every piece of memorabilia related to this iconic driver. Unbeknownst to him, Harvick’s admirers are just as captivated by his performances now as they’ve always been.

In Phoenix, a track synonymous with Harvick’s victories, everyone witnessed the closing pages of his racing tale before he took on the role of commentator with FOX Sports. The finale not only marked the end for the last driver born in the ’70s, but it also sparked a nostalgic moment among the Harvick fans eager to keep a piece of his legacy at home.

The sentiment propelled the Kevin Harvick Busch Light 29 Ford Mustang to become 2023’s hottest diecast, as revealed by Lionel Racing. Enthusiasts and collectors alike rushed to get their hands on the model, featuring a North Wilkesboro paint scheme that harks back to his 2001 rookie year.

Erik Jones’ No. 43 NASCAR vehicle trailed closely behind as the second most sought-after diecast. Jones, driving for Legacy Motor Club, made waves at Daytona International Speedway, sporting the legendary No. 43 Chevrolet with a Guns N’ Roses-themed design. The car boasted the iconic band’s logo, name, and striking black and gold colors.

However, his influence didn’t stop there. The No. 4 Budweiser Ford, a throwback to his 2014 championship season, also made the list as the tenth most popular diecast. As per motorsport.com, in a heartwarming video shared by Lionel, Kevin Harvick expressed his gratitude to fans for embracing the No. 29 North Wilkesboro throwback diecast.

He said, “Hey everybody. Just wanted to say thank you for making the No. 29 North Wilkesboro throwback diecast the No. 1 selling diecast for Lionel for the year. So thank you to everyone for adding that to your collection. That car meant a lot to me, and it means even more that the fans cared about it so much, so thank you.”

The list also featured two race-winning diecasts: Kyle Busch‘s #8 Lucas Oil Chevrolet, which clinched his first victory with Richard Childress Racing at Fontana, secured the third spot and SVG’s #91 Enhance Health Chevrolet, celebrating his surprise win at the Chicago Street Course, landed in seventh place.

2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney also cut, with his No. 12 Menards Dutch Boy Ford champion diecast being the fourth bestseller. Beyond that, Dale Earnhardt Jr and the Intimidator, known for their merch appeal, were featured in the top 10. A historical diecast of Dale Earnhardt‘s 1998 Daytona 500-winning car ranked fifth, while Dale Earnhardt Jr’s #3 Bass Pro Shops late model Chevrolet was ninth. Kevin Harvick’s ascent to such popularity is a rare feat. Meanwhile, Chase Briscoe, set to lead Stewart-Haas Racing into the future, seems to have his sights set on filling Harvick’s shoes, as hinted in his recent statements.

With the retirement of Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola, the baton of seniority at Stewart-Haas Racing has been passed to Chase Briscoe. Brimming with ambition, he shared, “Leadership role comes from running at the front week in, week out. Kevin was the leader because he ran the best on the most consistent basis. For me, that’s the biggest thing. I wanna be the new Kevin Harvick at Stewart-Haas. I wanna be the cadet that’s running up front week in, week out.”

Kevin Harvick had a leg up on his teammates last season, consistently gunning for top-10 finishes and narrowly missing out on race wins. On the other hand, Briscoe’s season was less than stellar, tarnished by a record-breaking 120-point L3 penalty, the largest in NASCAR history.
