

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace is rapidly becoming a go-to figure for streaming services. After getting his own Netflix docu-series, ‘Race: Bubba Wallace’, he will now be part of another series. This one is called Greatness Code and it is streaming on Apple TV. Interestingly, the pilot season aired in 2020 and had seven episodes featuring top athletes.

That first season featured LeBron James, Tom Brady, Alex Morgan, Shaun White, Usain Bolt, Katie Ledecky and Kelly Slater. Now, season 2 will have Wallace, Lindsey Vonn, Russell Wilson, Marcus Rashford, Leticia Bufoni, and Scout Bassett.

For the uninitiated, Bufoni is a professional skateboarder, while Bassett is a Paralympian.
What will the second season show about Bubba Wallace?
Director Gotham Chopra helms the series and the new season will only have six episodes. In a 35-second clip, there was a small snippet of Wallace saying “That’s when it becomes a chess match”. The series is supposed to touch upon the most poignant moments in the athletes’ career. Those moments helped them transition from just good sportspersons to exceptional sports personalities.

For Bubba Wallace, that moment has to be when he won the NASCAR Cup race at the Talladega Superspeedway in 2021. The best part was that the win came on home soil and it was his first career win. Admittedly, many were still debating whether the win was ‘legitimate’, as he was leading when the race was called off. Some of his critics and ‘haters’ believe that he had not earned the win, but his supporters rallied behind him.

They all cited examples of NASCAR drivers who were awarded victory after a rain delay. No matter how he won the race, a win is a win and he is proud of winning on home turf. Though he could be under a little bit of pressure to ensure that that maiden win was not a fluke. Bubba Wallace came awfully close at the Daytona 500 earlier this year, but could only muster 2nd.
Now, he will have to try again to get that elusive second win.
