Having found it difficult to cut it across any of the three NASCAR divisions in recent times, the Xfinity deal with Kaulig Racing will come as a refreshed move for Jeb Burton. He will replace Ross Chastain, who makes a move up to the Cup Series with Chip Ganassi Racing for 2021.
The 28-year-old last raced for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series, but for just the 11 races in a 33-races season. And so admittedly, a full-time opportunity with one of the best teams in the division would have come as an encouragement for him.
Burton is quoted as saying, “That is something that has been really tough for me the last couple of years. Just not racing but once in a while, to not get into that rhythm and build that chemistry with a crew chief.”

Adding onto those initial thoughts, Burton stated, “I think that’s been part of my struggle the last couple of years, just not having that consistency. Every race is a life or death moment for me, it feels like. So now, I can really focus on my race craft and work with my team, and they can kind of build notes to help me and know what I like as well.”

Burton has never made it to a Championship 4 in his Xfinity career thus far. But he did come close in his time with Turner Scott Motorsports in the Truck Series, achieving fifth that year in 2013.
“To be able to run for a championship is a dream come true. I feel like we’ll definitely have a shot at that and that’s our goal going into this season is to be able to run for that championship and to make that final 4. I feel like I can do it, I know Kaulig Racing can do it as well. I’m just excited to get to work.” concluded Burton.
