The preparations for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season have begun. Even as some drivers, including the recently crowned Ryan Blaney, are enjoying the off-season with their loved ones, at Hendrick Motorsports, the strive and desire for success are never-ending. And though all four HMS machines would be looking to make their roars count on February 18th at the Daytona International Speedway, Kyle Larson is currently eyeing another date—May 26—when he attempts “The Double.”

On May 26th, Kyle Larson aims to enter the IMS pit road at 9:00 am, complete the 108th Indy 500 around 4:pm, fly to Charlotte, and take the wheels behind the #5 Chevy at 6:00 pm for the Coca-Cola 600. Hendrick Motorsports and Larson‘s IndyCar team Arrow McLaren have also collaborated to prepare him for the splendid achievement. Earlier in 2023, HMS gave the fans a first look at the paint scheme of the color Larson’s vehicle will wear at the prestigious events. As we inch closer to Larson realizing the enduring dream, a glimpse of the 2021 Cup champion’s liveries has set off the NASCAR community.

Fans can’t stop admiring Kyle Larson’s stock-car paint scheme for the Coca-Cola 600

Fans have expressed their love for the paint scheme since its official release. However, one of the luckier fans got to watch it live and shared a glimpse of it on social media, exciting the NASCAR fandom.

“Sorry but that should be the primary,” commented a fan, implying their desire to see the stock-car paint scheme as the primary one for all races next year. The stock car has been designed with minor stripes of papaya orange at the right places. The masterful mixture has been well-received by the online community and will surely be counted among one of the better schemes of 2024.

Another fan echoed the same sentiment when they pleaded to HMS employees that the #5 runs the same scheme all year round. They wrote, “HMS employees that lurk here, please advocate to run this for the rest of 2024. Thanks.”

“Matching with the IndyCar he’s driving earlier in the day, I love it!” wrote another Redditor.

Despite misjudging the trademark papaya orange of McLaren as yellow, one of the fans was amazed by the little touches from McLaren that portray their partnership perfectly. “Incredible how that tiny bit of yellow elevates this scheme that much,” read the comment.

“Love the papaya accents” was another comment referring to the hints of orange as an accent. This will be Hendrick Motorsports’ venture into another racing form for a second successive year.

Arrow-McLaren had a program that would see them field three drivers in Indianapolis: McLaren and Rick Hendrick‘s interests and zeal aligned and thrust Kyle Larson into the deal. It was officially revealed in January this year that Kyle Larson had enrolled in the program, and he has continued to prepare for the race since then. He has already begun the journey by practicing to adapt to IndyCar’s strengths.

On the completion of the events, Larson will become only the sixth racecar driver to attempt the “double duty”—11 years after it was last attempted, by Kurt Busch. Hendrick Motorsports and McLaren have masterfully blended their trademark colors of blue and orange for the paint schemes of the #17 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet and the #5 HMS Chevrolet, both sponsored by HendrickCars.com.

2023 marked the return of NASCAR to Le Mans and HMS as an instrumental part of the plan. In 2024, the team will lead one of the most versatile NASCAR drivers after Tony Stewart to a self-driven partnership with one of the powerhouses of the IndyCar series.

Could Kyle Larson transcend the barrier between NASCAR and IndyCar similarly to Tony Stewart? The task is tough, but not impossible for a racing talent like Larson.
