Tony Stewart’s wife, Leah Pruett, has decided not to compete at the Pep Boys NHRA Top Fuel All-Star Callout event. The event will take place on Saturday, March 9, as a part of the 55th annual Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals. This could have been Leah’s last dance in a dragster seat as she announced her plans to start a family with Tony Stewart and called it a time from drag racing.

The 2024 Top Fuel Pro Superstar Shootout at Bradenton Motorsport Park was the last event where the 11-time Top Fuel winner participated. With Leah backing off from the event, it will be Josh Hart, taking up the final spot at the racing event. Interestingly, it was Hart who won the Pep Boys NHRA Top Fuel All-Star Callout last year at his home track.

Stewart’s wife, Leah, confirmed her retirement from drag racing after the Top Fuel Pro Superstar Shootout event. Participating in the 5-day event, Leah managed to reach the semi-final round of the event. She eventually faced a defeat against her long-standing rival, Doug Kalitta, but it was a good event given that it could have been her last one.

And it turns out, the farewell message by Leah Pruett earlier this month was potentially her last feature in the dragster. Also, Tony Stewart, locked into making his Top Fuel debut at Gatornationals, competing in the qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday, sees TSR not fielding their entry for the event. But what exactly is the All-Star race? And what’s so special about the event?

Firstly, it is a big money race with a total purse of $130,000, which makes it a cool feature for the teams to bag some bonuses apart from the regular season. In a special call-out setting, the event also sees world champions like Steve Torrence, Doug Kalitta, Antron Brown, and Shawn Langdon take the field.

Apart from the lucrative cash prize pool, the drivers compete to win themselves a special callout trophy, a belt, and bragging rights. With Leah’s snub, defending champion, Josh Hart will be looking to repeat his heroics from last year and bag himself another Callout title.

It would have been a dim feeling for Hart after failing to make the eight-driver lineup at the All-Star event in 2024. However, fortunes have now turned back in his favor after Leah decided to step down from competing in the event. Hart will seal the eighth and final spot for the event and look to repeat his heroics from last season.

I have always believed ‘Anything’s Possible’ and this turn of events proves that you have to stay ready because anything can happen. I am excited to get to mix it up with these other seven drivers. We won from the No.8 spot last year and we will try to do it again. This R+L Carrier Top Fuel team learned a lot at the end of the season and over the off-season. We will be ready,” Hart was quoted via Speedsport.

It might not have been a fairytale ending for Leah Pruett, but this could well spark a triumph for Josh Hart, who knows a thing or two about winning this particular event.
