The world of NASCAR is not only confined to the thrilling tracks and the deepest urge to win a title. Rather, there are several other factors in play that contribute to the popularity of the sport. One such element is the on-track rivalry between the driver that more often than not gets transpired outside NASCAR’s grid.

While friends becoming foes is a common scenario in the world of stock car racing, the opposite of it seldom happens. However, for a change, it seems that two such rivals seem to have buried the hatchet and have shaken their hands in cordiality. This was discernible in the SRX Racing Series in Eldora.

The Superstar Racing Experience race on the tracks of Eldora was surely a race to look forward to. The track owners by Tony Stewart witnessed one of the worst crashes, after the debutant Austin Dillon lost the radiator hose of his car. This led to a chain of wreckage, as the other cars lost control and piled up behind Austin Dillon’s car.

However, that was not the spectacle of the night. Rather, it was the hard-earned victory of the co-owner of the series Tony Stewart on his own track. The 3x Cup Series champion hardly broke a sweat and glided his car to victory. The surprises surely don’t end there, as one of the highlights of the evening was the light-hearted conversation between him and one of his fierce NASCAR rivals Joey Logano

The inception of this rivalry could be traced back to 2013 Auto Club Speedway, when both drivers tried to outdo each other on the track after the restart. It was not long before the altercation transpired outside of the track and transformed into shoves. This eventually led Stewart to call Logano a “little rich kid.”

Nevertheless, a long time has passed away since then, and it seems that both drivers have forgiven each other. This was apparent in the radio exchange between the two drivers on the track of Eldora. Joey Logano, who was a part of the broadcasting room, expressed, “The style of Smoke says that he is trying hard. Tony Stewart, Joey Logano up here, you got me?”

To this, Stewart retorted, “Yeah man, what’s happening?”

Team Penske driver then asked, “Well, we just heard that you were trying hard, so we figured that it’s a good time and come down and say hello to you. I hate to see, look at you. I can only imagine what trying looks like. It really looks like that you just forgot that you got a league of your own. How does it feel?”

Stewart replied, “I actually feel it’s really good, really balanced. The tracks keep changing. My balance is good, still have to think about the aero of this. It’s really cold on this Goodyear…but it’s a good tire.”

Well, you got a pretty decent size lead. 1.6 seconds over Newman. But you boy Schrader is right behind him,” Logano concluded.

Nonetheless, the penultimate race of the series also witnessed the rebounding of Hailie Deegan, and how she surged back to a second-place finish. The Truck Series driver was caught up in the multi-car wreckage that occurred due to the mechanical failure in Austin Dillon’s car.

Her car suffered the worst damage, however, she was able to jump back into the race with the help of her backup car and eventually grabbed the runner-up position. Speaking to Frontstretch about the events of the night, Deegan exclaimed, When it happened, I was immediately right behind him. Nothing I could do in that situation. That’s the first time that’s happened to me, where someone’s blown up directly in front of me.”

“I was able to get in this car, tune on it a little bit after running that heat race in between the main. And we were able to make it really good to my liking, and we were able to go out there and finish second,” Deegan asserted.
