The recent one in Talladega was the 62nd career win for Kyle Busch, his 2nd on that racetrack, and his 2nd of this season. But here’s the thing, it may not very well have come if not for one thing – poor communication.
Or rather it was a combination of bad communication and good luck that earned Busch the checkered flag in Talladega. The Richard Childress Racing driver chose not to pit for fuel in the very closing moments of the race, a big gamble that paid off big time.
Now, even though Busch himself admitted to the luck factor in his win, it was Larry McReynolds who pointed to the “bad communication” paying off.

FOX Analyst credits “bad communication” for Kyle Busch’s Talladega win
During an episode of the NASCAR Race Hub, McReynolds alongside Kevin Harvick claimed how he always preaches to his kids and everybody around him to “have good communication.”
“I think bad communication actually paid off pretty good for that #8 car because you heard it there. They got pitted on lap 144 which was 44 to go as most drivers did which was just outside that fuel window,” he described. “And I think Randall Burnett said, ‘Pit, pit, pit now if you can’, and you heard it, ‘Nope, too late.’”
“I think there was a method to the madness and I think a lot of it was because of that win earlier in the season at Fontana, California. That’s a game changer.”

In a post-race interview, Busch admitted he got lucky towards the end of the race which ultimately led to his first Talladega win in 15 years. “Sometimes you’ve got to be lucky. Some of these races come down to that,” Busch said as per FOX News.

“You’ve got to take them when they come to your way. The seas kind of parted there when they went up the racetrack.“
With that said, do you think Busch’s talent and his run of good luck this year will continue on in more races this year? Or could he choke in the second half of the season?
