DGM Racing driver Kyle Weatherman won’t be able to take part in today’s practice and qualifying runs for the Xfinity Series event at Darlington Raceway. The 26-year-old driver has decided to spend time with his family. Kaden Honeycutt will be replacing him in the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro and will run in today’s events scheduled at the racetrack.

Weatherman’s mother-in-law, Barbara-Ann, has been hospitalized and is battling metastatic breast cancer. He was originally scheduled to run the qualifying and practice events at Darlington but decided to stay close to his family in these turbulent times.

Sharing an update about his involvement with today’s events, he took to X and wrote, “Due to a family emergency I will not be participating in today’s on track activities at @TooToughToTame. Thank you to @KadenWHoneycutt for filling in on such short notice. To my team, fans, and sponsors thank you for your support and understanding.”

His team, DGM Racing, also supported their driver’s decision by sharing a post via their X handle, “Some things are bigger than racecars. @KyleWeatherman will miss today’s on track activities due to a family emergency. @KadenWHoneycutt will takeover duties driving the @GoDriveSmartChevrolet for practice and qualifying at @TooToughToTame.”

Fans send warm wishes and prayers to Weatherman and his family

The NASCAR community was in solidarity with Kyle Weatherman and his decision to spend time with his family in the light of an emergency. The comment sections soon started buzzing with the best wishes and prayers for the driver and his family.

As soon as the Wentzville, Missouri, native shared an update about his decision to stick with his family, fans started pouring in messages and best wishes for him and his family. A fan reacting to his post on X wrote, “Prayers for you and your family”.

Another fan shared a heartfelt note, stating, “Sending prayers to your family. I know what you all are going through right now. My best wishes for you all. Sending prayers positive speedy healing positive speedy recovery. Positive thoughts positive faith. ❤️🤗🙏”.

Kyle Weatherman is running his first full-time schedule in the Xfinity Series since the 2020 season when he raced for Mike Harmon Racing. The family emergency has put his plans for racing on hold from now on, but there hasn’t been any official update about his availability for tomorrow’s main event.
