The month of May is a month when emotions are high for Kyle Petty and his family. Those emotions were stirred when they found themselves overcome by tears again, after seeing a touching remembrance for Kyle’s late son.

All of the NASCAR community united in honoring the memory of Adam Petty, who left us in a tragic racing accident. The entire Petty family was emotionally overwhelmed as fans came together to honour Adam Petty’s memory.

Adam Petty’s tragic crash in New Hampshire

Richard Petty’s life completely changed after the tragic accident which took away his grandson, Adam Petty, from his life. The incident took at New Hampshire during a practice session on May 12, 2000, which left the racing world in shock. Adam Petty was a young driver who was preparing for an upcoming race.

During the regular practice session, Petty’s throttle became stuck, which made him lose control as he entered turn 3. The car went straight into the outside wall at a high speed. The crash was so horrific that Adam Petty died because of the impact. The injuries he sustained because of the crash was a basilar skull fracture, which caused his instant death.

The racing community was left shocked after hearing young Petty’s death. On Petty’s death anniversary, fans gathered at Darlington Raceway to pay tribute to the departed soul.

Fans from all corners of the NASCAR community paid tribute to the young talent who left the world too soon. At the Darlington Raceway, fans turned up with posters remembering Adam Petty with heartfelt messages.

These messages caught the Petty family’s eyes, which moved them to tears. In a recent social media post Kyle Petty said, “It’s always hard for me to be at a track on May 12. But @TooToughToTame #petty75 hat last weekend was really special. The most important thing for any parent who has lost a child is for them to never be forgotten. My prayer every day is for Adam to always be remembered.”

Soon after Kyle Petty‘s post, fans rushed to leave their heartfelt messages under his post. One parent sympathised with Petty, who as a parent could not imagine the pain he must be going through, “Can’t imagine how you do it KP. I only have one daughter and she is 32, she is a teacher in Greenville SC traveling I85. My biggest fear is getting that call,,,, I would not want to go on.”

Another parent wrote, “nope it is not easy for us parents! but we do know that they are our angels on our shoulders all the time!” Other fans who have had the chance to meet young Petty before his death, shared their experience meeting him and reminisced that particular day, “Meet him in the Talladega garage, we talked for about 5 minutes, in 5 minutes I knew he was an outstanding young man, I expected this from a Petty, I promise you, I will never forget those 5 minutes, never 🏁”

Another fan recalled when Petty was rushing to go somewhere but stopped and attended to his fan who were waiting for him at the track, “Met Adam at Texas MotorSpeeday, he was running off to somewhere and I stopped him to get an autograph, he stopped with a big smile and took the time.”

Adam Petty was indeed a talented driver who was taken away from us too soon. His impact on the racing community left a mark on all who have had the privilege to know him and watch him race.
