The lives of NASCAR drivers are tedious and exhausting, to say the least. The Cup Series sets off a hive of activity requiring drivers to remain busy as bees stretched over ten months. Not to forget, there are also the different sprint races and the lower formats of the NASCAR series where the drivers engage themselves.

These races often act as practice tests for the Cup Series drivers to chisel their driving skills. But more often than not, these neverending schedules might take a toll in degrees—both personal and professional.

The racing wives are no exception to such crises. And perhaps Kyle Larson’s wife Katelyn has been undergoing this ordeal. She recently confessed on the latest episode of Dirt.

Kyle Larson’s wife spills the beans on husband’s tedious race schedules

It won’t be a stretch to say that the Hendrick Motorsports speedster Kyle Larson is one of the finest that the world of NASCAR has ever seen, especially after being inducted as one of the top-75 drivers in NASCAR’s history. He is considered one of the greatest dirt racers with two Chili Bowl crowns to his name.

But the road to racing has not been an easy one as it came with its trials and tribulations. However, amidst the toughest of times, the 2021 Cup Series champion has always found support from his wife Katelyn Larson. Famously known as the Shotgun Sweetie, owing to her husband’s victory ritual, she is often found on the paddocks on the race days to cheer for her husband.

Although settled in North Carolina, the Larsons often fly to different parts of the country. This proved to be strenuous for the wife, which she confessed on the latest episode of Flo Racing’s Dirt. The interviewer asked Mrs. Larson, “Do you think he [Kyle Larson] races too much?”

Katelyn Larson bluntly retorted, “Yeah, he races too much, because it is a lot on our family. It’s overwhelming for me, I get burnt out very easily.” Even Kyle Larson admitted, “This year I had like 140 races on my schedule. You get a little burnout at times because I don’t get to experience much.”

Nevertheless, given the experience of Kyle Larson as a NASCAR driver, he surely has faced some of the worst crashes that one can ever think of. It was a near-death experience for the driver, but to everyone’s relief, he escaped the mishap without any major injuries. This incident occurred during the race at Talladega Superspeedway when Kyle Larson was T-boned by Stewart-Haas Racing’s Ryan Preece at 130 mph.

Fortunately, the impact was on the passenger side. This prompted the governing body to rethink the safety of the Next-Gen cars. The administration was back with answers. This entailed the re-developing of the cars at the R&D Centre of NASCAR, with more modified and sturdy structures to ensure the safety of the drivers. These cars are slated to roll out on July 9 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

With the new developments in the cars, Kyle Larson had expressed his satisfaction with it, during the pre-race press race conference at Sonoma. He expressed, Yeah, I mean not an engineer, so I don’t know. I can’t look at it and really give you an opinion on how well they did with the changes or whatnot, but I am very happy that me being in that wreck at Talladega and seeing how close it got to being really bad – seeing them go straight into the action, and compile data and make quick moves on improving the safety, it was something I was happy to see.”
