Was Bubba Wallace singled out with his one-race suspension penalty by NASCAR? This was one of the hot topic of discussion amongst NASCAR spotters, including Wallace’s own in a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast.
Brett Griffin, the spotter for Justin Haley began by describing how drivers intentionally wrecking other drivers has been something they’ve seen “happen for years,” especially what the #45 did to #5 in Vegas, which according to the spotter, is “targeting” in NASCAR’s world.

With that said, Griffin argued that a penalty is something which now needs to be consistent, that if a line has been drawn, it better be applied to everyone.
The spotter was halfway through mentioning the Clash at The Coliseum when Freddie Kraft, the spotter of Bubba Wallace, made him remember an incident from the exhibition race that once again involved Kyle Larson.
“I’m pretty sure you got intentionally wrecked at the Coliseum..,” Kraft said, to which Griffin immediately responded, “Kyle Larson intentionally wrecked Justin Haley at the Coliseum and completely ended our day.”
“I think now for me, the question becomes, are you saying we were wrong to not have already done it? Because if you don’t keep doing it, it looks like he’s singled out.”

TJ Majors feels Bubba Wallace will learn a lot from this whole episode
After all of this discussion, TJ Majors, the spotter of Brad Keselowski and the former spotter of Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared his thoughts on the subject. He began by confessing that “this has been building up”, that if five years ago something like this would’ve happened, perhaps it wouldn’t have been a penalty.
But then Majors argued that Wallace’s penalty wasn’t just about him wrecking Larson.
“I think it’s a product of a lot of things, like there are other things too…not to mention walking on the racetrack, walked across a hot racetrack, that’s also been a no-no,” he said.

Majors added that NASCAR’s decision to park Bubba Wallace is not only right, but could end up being a big step in his development as a driver.
“I think this would be a big step in Bubba’s development and learning, they kind of all have to go through this at some point. Nobody likes to see it, but I think he’ll come out of this better,” he described.
