Kyle Larson’s passion for racing runs in his family. His kids, Audrey and Owen, love Go-Karting and by the way they are performing on track, there is a chance that they might carry on their dad’s legacy after he retires. While the youngest child is too young to be racing cars, with the way things are going, we can expect him to be behind a wheel soon too.
Owen and Audrey both enjoy the casual go-kart race from time to time, but they have found their passion in being competitive. Audrey has become such a motorhead that she has even asked her father to check with Kevin Harvick to see if his daughter would come to kart with her. But it was only recently when Larson understood how much racing in karts matters to his daughter, and here is what you need to know about it.

Kyle Larson’s daughter’s passion for racing
Kyle Larson was invited to Dirty Mo Media’s podcast to talk about the playoffs and other things NASCAR. After they dwelled on how the season was going for him, they started to talk about his kids. That’s when the interviewer made a statement saying, “A lot’s been made of your son, Owen, racing and stuff, but I see Audrey has been getting into it as well.” That’s when the question “Does she seem interested enough to pursue more of it? What is her love for racing right now?” came up.
Audrey is a bit of a tomboy, is what Kyle Larson told Jeff Gluck on The Teardown. Larson then said that his daughter wants to do everything that her older brother Owen does. He then explained, “So I felt like, you know, she could start running the cadet class at Millbridge, and she’s just so, like, competitive, but also, like, absorbs information.” Larson gave out some qualifications of his daughter as he said, “She’s driven, can process. She can, like, I can tell her something. I can see her trying it while she’s out there. So that’s really fun for me.”
The HMS driver then shared a story from a few weeks ago where, in California, Audrey raced at the same track that her dad grew up racing at, Cycleland. She managed to impress the 2021 Cup Series Champion as he shared, “There were 20 kids, and she’s probably, you know, 10th best out there, but she spun out on the first lap and got smoked and hit, and she was not hurt or anything, but she was pissed after.”

That’s where Larson saw her passion, as losing the race matters to her enough to spoil her mood. He then shared how she kept questioning herself for spinning out and that she felt “deflated” in herself. Larson then compared her to how his son reacts in such incidents, saying that his reactions are more like, “Oh, whatever, you know, can I go play with my friends now?” This shows that racing matters more to Audrey than it does to Owen at this point, making her a potential NASCAR driver in the future.

How Kyle Larson’s daughter got Piper Harvick back into karting
Once on an episode of Kevin Harvick‘s Happy Hour, the retired NASCAR driver shared a story of how Audrey one day wanted to spend a day on the track with his daughter. So when Harvick got a call from Kyle Larson, he asked his daughter if she wanted to visit the tracks. Piper immediately jumped in to say yes.
Harvick then explained how his daughter had the best day on the track spending time with Audrey. Whenever Piper used to go to the tracks, she used to call it a day after 2 rounds, but that day was different. Piper, being older than Audrey, found her love for karting when she acted like Miss Larson’s mentor.
