Last weekend’s Cup Series race was a complete thriller filled with all the fun for the fans. The action at the Kansas Speedway track from all the contact between cars, wrecks, and post-race fist fight gave NASCAR nation a lot to talk about. But the highlight was when Denny Hamlin earned his first series win of this year. And no, it was not the win but more for how he got that win by bumping Kyle Larson who was right by his side in the race to reach the finish line.

In the race, the Hendrick Motorsports driver was leading by a wide margin with Hamlin behind him. Things turned quite interesting from there on. It quickly became a battle between Larson and the Joe Gibbs driver. They were locked in a thrilling side-by-side battle for the lead with five laps to go. In the last lap, contact with Hamlin led Larson into the wall, slowing him, while Hamlin took the lead from there and got his first victory.

The race turned out to be very exciting, and this is what NASCAR fans had been waiting for. But a lot of fans were not happy with the contact Hamlin made with Larson to earn the victory he was waiting for since this season began. If Larson would have won this race as expected because he was leading in the last lap, this win would have marked his third in the Cup Series this year.

A video was recently shared by NASCAR on NBC on Twitter. The video is from inside Larson’s car while his spotter Cliff Daniels was talking to him in the race. It certainly looks like Daniels was not at all happy with what Hamlin did.

Daniels was heard guiding Larson about Hamlin’s position around his car in the audio when the incident happened. He said, “Looking inside, inside, you and him still inside, you and him still there on you, tight still on you, tight, you’re clear, clear, hooked you, keep coming there, keep coming, well go and wreck us, Denny. Denny is better than doing that.”

While the race was full entertainment for the NASCAR fans, a lot of them agree with what Daniels said. A few fans said that they were relaxed that it was not Hamlin on the receiving end, otherwise, they would have to listen to him complaining all week about how he was bumped.

Fans even appreciated Larson for his calmness but also wondered what was the reason Hamlin did that to Larson. Check out the fan’s honest comments.

“Wouldn’t have happened if Larson didn’t get in the wall. It was hard racing. Period.”

“He does it to Larson cause he knows Larson won’t do anything back to him. Denny would just run to nascar crying about being wrecked if he did.”

“It would be all the noise from Denny this week if roles were reversed. All good as long as it isn’t him.”
