Recently, news broke that Hendrick Motorsports and Rick Hendrick were relaxing the off-track activity restrictions for their drivers. Naturally, #5 driver Kyle Larson was really happy. This is because he is a huge face of racing on dirt tracks and has been quite successful. Now, the team have given him something to smile about as they are officially supporting his dirt racing exploits.

Larson recently posted a picture of one of his dirt cars with the Hendrick Automotive logo on it. The Asian-American driver is one of the most versatile racers out there, as he has competed in various racing disciplines and won. It is also worth mentioning that he is one of the best dirt racers, if not the best.

So far in the 2021 season, Larson has been the star man for Hendrick Motorsports. He has already notched up four wins in the season, that too excluding his All-Star win. Owing to this, some would think that the team would want to wrap up their main asset in bubblewrap. However, it turns out that this is not going to be the case for Larson.

What did Kyle Larson say?

Larson said, “Well, I’m definitely glad, for sure. It’s not something they typically allowed their drivers to do in the past. I’m friends with Kasey [Kahne] and that was the case when he was racing here.

“When I started to talk to Mr. H and Jeff (Gordon) about racing their Cup cars, I was a little bit nervous and bummed I wouldn’t be able to race as much dirt. I didn’t think they would cut it out completely, but I didn’t expect them to let me do whatever I wanted either.”

For the moment, Kyle Larson is locked in a fierce championship battle with a few races left before the playoffs. He will be eager to fend off the likes of Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch for the chance to seize his maiden crown.
