There’s a common stereotype of NASCAR drivers in the rest of the world that they can go fast in cars that only turn left. And while this has triggered the NASCAR community for decades, Kyle Larson is quickly proving everyone wrong. Not only is the Hendrick Motorsports driver more than capable behind the wheel of the Camaro ZL1, but also his love for motorsport transcends the oval.

From the world of dirt track racing to the 24 Hours of Daytona, Larson has achieved success in most forms of four-wheel motorsport. Even in 2024, the 31-year-old is pushing the boundaries by taking on the Indy500-Coca Cola 600 double. But that might not be all! Who says his racing interests are restricted to four wheels?

Kyle Larson makes a cameo at the 2024 SuperCross Glendale 450

Over the weekend, Kyle Larson surprised the NASCAR and Motocross community with an appearance during SuperCross Live’s Glendale 450. The series’ official X account tweeted a snippet of Larson with the caption, “@KyleLarsonRacin is in the house 🤝” While it’s evident that Larson doesn’t discriminate between racing series, who would’ve thought the HMS driver had an itch for Motocross?

With his dirt racing background and an eager personality that wants to try out newer categories at every opportunity, Larson could perhaps consider a try at the MotoCross Live series. And even if not for a competitive event, a crossover between the two sports that sees Larson test his skills behind the handlebars instead of a steering wheel for a show would create some exciting content.

While this is just wishful thinking, it would be a whole new reason for doubters to stop calling NASCAR drivers inferior to other racers owing to the oval’s nature if Kyle Larson shows up in the SuperCross Live series. While there’s already quite a lot planned for Larson in 2024, perhaps next season could give fans more Larson-Supercross content!

A few days ago, Kyle Larson made another important step toward his Indy 500 run at Phoenix Raceway with a single-car rookie evaluation. But the test wasn’t as smooth sailing as Larson had expected. During testing, he nearly lost control of the Arrow McLaren at over 180mph but managed to save it, ultimately leaving with only a reality check that Larson had the work cut out for him.

After the test, Larson reflected on the incident and was quoted by AP News. He stated, “Just got caught off guard a little bit. I went into Indy car turmoil, got a little bit loose into the corner, and got to the apex. As I was leaving the bottom, it just started to get sideways. Was able to catch it.” While it may seem like a minor hurdle, the pressure is on Larson to join an elite class of drivers that have run the Double like John Andretti, Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart.

However, Larson isn’t one to lose optimism so quickly. And the incident only added to the learning curve. He stated, “It’s always good when you can, as a driver, put yourself in new situations where you’re challenging your brain, you’re challenging yourself to evolve and learn something new, figure out the differences or similarities between race cars.”

After taking a look at how versatile Kyle Larson is, not only with his appearance at the SuperCross Live event but also through his preparation for the Indy500, if there’s any driver that’s full of surprises, it’s definitely Larson.
