Though he is a natural when it comes to adapting to new things and his racing skills, the Hendrick Motorsports star shed light on the challenges he might face. During The Race IndyCar Podcast interview, he said that he finds the dirt late model new and very different from all of his previous experience driving other cars.
Larson said, “I can drive at average level but if I really want to go out there and be one of the best, then, like the little details are what is the most difficult part. Trying to figure out, there are dynamics and how a car reacts in traffic and just like the details, which I’m sure would be somewhere when I get into an Indy car.
“I hope the driving part around by myself would be easy, not easy but natural where I could just focus on the traffic, the cockpit adjustment and pit-stops, and the details of racing that I don’t know.”

While he has a go-getter attitude towards learning new things, the Indy car challenge he would face will need a lot of work from him. From what he understands, it will require him to do a lot of homework. He even mentioned that in past races, he would try and figure everything out on his own.
As for the Indy 500, he said, “So definitely a lot of work goes into it. A lot of studying all the types of cars I run, watching a lot of videos. I’m sure with the Indy car stuff I’ll do more kinda talking to other drivers and the teammates that I have to lean on, compared to when I go race other cars.”
