In the last few races, Kyle Larson has been in a fair bit of trouble. However, his clash with teammate Chase Elliott at the Auto Club Speedway did not endear him to the Hendrick Motorsports team. As a result, team owner Rick Hendrick decided that the buck stopped there, and sat everyone down for a team meeting. This was no ordinary meeting, as it involved all four HMS teams and it took place before the Las Vegas NASCAR race.

Kyle Larson said, “Rick called a meeting with all four teams and just kind of reiterated his expectations with us drivers. So it’s good to get those reminders every now and then. We’ll continue to race good in the future with each other. So I’ll catch up more with Chase here in a little bit and we’ll be good.”

Obviously, travel difficulties meant that the meeting was not in-person. However, Kyle Larson acknowledged that it was the first time he had ever seen Rick Hendrick take control like that. He continued. “(Hendrick’s) been to competition meetings and stuff like that, and we’ve had multiple meetings about different things. But as far as racing and stuff, that’s the first one I can remember him getting involved in. I think we all know his expectations and after the incident last weekend, it was good for him to get involved again and tell us what the expectations are.”

Now, for this weekend’s race at Las Vegas, Rick Hendrick will hope that his drivers heed his advice. The last thing he needs on his hands is a Hendrick Motorsports civil war.

This is because compromising your and your teammate’s races will compromise the team in the championship. So, Rick Hendrick will be eager to help the drivers move on and work together in tandem in the future.
