Whenever Kyle Larson wins a race, he often removes his steering wheel and holds it out of the window. Recently, the defending Cup Series champion revealed the origin of that celebration. Admittedly it was a very surprising one, and it wasn’t even original. According to him, the idea came from his sister’s ex boyfriend.
Larson said, “I kind of stole the idea, I guess from my sister’s ex boyfriend. We used to race karts and stuff together, a long time ago. He had an awesome victory celebrations, where he would do crazy fast donuts and hold the wheel outside the car. I just thought that was cool and nobody had done it yet in NASCAR.”

Kyle Larson is preparing for the 2022 Daytona 500
For the moment, the #5 driver is preparing for the Daytona 500 in a week’s time. So far in his career, the 29-year-old has yet to win this iconic race, but he will be one of the favorites. Obviously, the path will not be easy, especially since he has several rivals who are just as capable of winning. Additionally, there is also a chance of someone with an outside chance winning the iconic race.
This was evident from last year when Michael McDowell won the race and stunned many. The bad news was that Larson endured a bad start to his 2022 Cup Series campaign. This was because he tangled with a couple of drivers during the Busch Light Clash; though he still managed to finish in 5th place. Now, he will be eager to redeem himself and register his first win of the 2022 season.
