The Sprint car racing landscape is undergoing a monumental shift. The High Limit Sprint Car Series, co-owned by NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson and his brother-in-law Brad Sweet, has officially acquired the All-Star Circuit of Champions. This acquisition marks the passing of the torch from the legendary racer and three-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart to the Hendrick Motorsports driver.

The All-Star Circuit of Champions, a regional 410 Sprint Car series, was previously under the ownership of Tony Stewart. Before the weekend’s race at Homestead, Kyle Larson was determined not to rest on his laurels despite securing a place in the final four after a thrilling victory in Las Vegas. For most of the race, it appeared that the #5 driver was on the path to consecutive victories. However, with just under 60 laps remaining, disaster struck.

Larson, who was running at the front of the pack, unintentionally collided with the barriers following race leader Ryan Blaney into the pit road. This unfortunate incident marked the end of Larson’s day, dashing his hopes of another triumph. After the race, Kyle Larson admitted to misjudging the situation, which turned a near-perfect day into a heart-wrenching disappointment. He explained that he did not anticipate Ryan Blaney slowing down as much as he did, leading to the unfortunate collision.

NASCAR driver and analyst Parker Kligerman offered valuable insights into the incident, shedding light on why Larson shouldn’t shoulder all the blame for the pit road mishap. “Also, a little insight. It’s really hard to see those barrels when a car is in front of you and the way you come on pit road. Even under caution, you will see cars suddenly swerve left. Because the barrels stick out to the left a bit more than the wall. Obviously, Larson was a bit fast, but the sightlines are odd there,” Kligerman wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
