Kyle Larson hasn’t been in the most tremendous forms of his career. The 2021 Cup Series champion has already booked his birth for the playoffs, but still finds himself in the eighth place on the leaderboard. With just six races to go, Larson would love to get some more wins under his belt as the regular season championship is also on the line.

Larson has a personal vendetta as well. Pocono Raceway has been one of the few circuits, where despite running well, Larson has failed to win the race. Before this year’s race, Larson talked about his intentions for this weekend.

Kyle Larson has been unlucky in getting a win at the Pocono circuit up until now. The former Cup Series champion has finished second, two times at the Pocono Raceway but a win has always eluded him.

In 2021, Larson was running in the lead and was close to winning the race. However, a flat tire dramatically took away the lead from him and he ended up getting the second place.

In a recent FOX 56 interview before the race, Larson said, “It is a place I enjoy and ran pretty decent there my whole career. And the win has kind of eluded us but we will keep pushing at it, and hopefully, get it done.”

In the same interview, Larson reflected on his position in the championship, he said, “I would say we are not where we want to be in points but as far as car speed and all of that, we have been really strong. We have had some DNFs just from hard racing and things that have happened but we have challenged for a lot more wins in half of the races.”

Larson loves racing at the Pocono Raceway, or more so, the vibe of the place. Adding on that, he revealed, “Once you got out of the racetrack, there is still lots to do.

You got Kalahari Resort not far, The Casino, golf courses and the hibachi and stuff like that I look forward to going to Pocono for. We are headed up right now, get the motor home park and then head over with the kids to the water park.”

There have been some major changes for the audience on the inside of the race track as well. During the off-season, Pocono Raceway’s victory lane was redesigned to accommodate the fans in a better way. The redesigned victory lane allows the fans to come much closer to the race cars and the podiums. Larson would love to go onto the new victory lane as the winner of the race. After all, it is a win that he has been desperately chasing for a long time.
