Last weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson led an almighty 256 laps to clinch the win and secure a Championship 4 slot. However, it is worth noting that with the win, he has moved to 2267 laps as a race leader. This places him behind Kevin Harvick and the legendary Jeff Gordon.
Gordon currently has 2320 lead laps under his belt, while Harvick has 2294 laps. Out of the two of them, only Harvick has the most realistic chance of getting there first. However, Harvick is out of Playoff contention, so he may find it difficult.

Considering that Larson is starting the race on pole position and has 54 laps to break the record, he has a solid chance to create history. Now that he is under no pressure to qualify for the Championship 4, he can focus on breaking this unique record. It is also worth noting that Larson just needs 28 laps to leapfrog Harvick and place himself 2nd in the leading lap list.

What else to expect from Kyle Larson?
Without a doubt, the #5 Hendrick Motorsports driver is the favorite for the title. This is because he has been in excellent form with eight wins under his belt this season. It also helps that he has grabbed two race wins on the trot, so the momentum has swung in his direction.
Additionally, the Hendrick Motorsports team could also beseech him to play the team game. To be precise, he could be asked to help teammate Chase Elliott win a Cup race and secure his Championship 4 berth. Now, the big question is, will anybody be able to stop him from racking up more wins. The likes of Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney and more, will be keen to stop him and challenge him for the crown.
