It was not too long ago that the NASCAR 2021 champion claimed the title against Max Verstappen when it comes to versatility. This claim was backed up by many NASCAR insiders, like Kevin Harvick, who believes that Kyle Larson is a better, more versatile driver than the F1 reigning champion. But will the title of being the best driver be enough for Larson to make it as the 2024 Cup Series Champion?
Kyle Larson currently runs his 10th full-time season in the Cup Series and ever since he moved to Hendrick Motorsports, his career has been on an upward trend. Not only did Larson win the title in his first year with his team, he has consistently made it into the playoffs for the last 4 years. So now the one thing of wonder for many fans is: Will Kyle Larson secure his second title this year? Yung Money revealed one of his biggest motivations for going after the Cup Series Championship at Homestead Miami.
Kyle Larson’s reason to become the 2024 Cup Series Champion
Family does stand out as one of the most important things for many NASCAR drivers, as they are risking their lives going 200mph+ on the tracks to feed them. So when Kyle Larson is third in the playoff picture, it’s only fair that his family expects him to win.
With so many important people from Kyle Larson’s life going to be present at the upcoming races, it’s obvious that he would want to perform to make them happy. In a pre-race interview, Kyle Larson spoke to Bob Pockrass. “I mean, I think I like having, you know, my friends and family there, and lots of them. So, yeah, I mean, that makes you want to make the Final Four a lot, just so you can see all your friends and family and have a good time, win or lose.”
He revealed how important this championship is to him. According to the No. 5 HMS driver, he will have family at the main event and that really puts pressure on him to win. Larson told Pockrass, “Yeah, no, typically it’s just for, like, Katelyn’s family. But then, yeah, friends, too. Some years we have a lot of people in my house—like last year we did—so it’s fun.”

Ultimately saying, “So, yeah, hopefully, we can keep the performance up, and I can see everybody in a couple of weeks,” Larson explained how important it is for him to not disappoint his family who is rooting for him as much as his fans are. As of now, the 32-year-old driver is looking to win his second title; however, the competition is stiff. Larson is third in the playoff picture; however, considering the competition he is up against, it will not be an easy task.
All the drivers in the top 8 are highly deserving of where they stand today and despite Larson’s impressive track record, he is up against some of the best stock race racing drivers on the planet. Although a lot is going on in Larson’s life, he has called over his family to stay with him during the Homestead race. This is what the 2021 champion had to say about having his family over around the NASCAR final races.
Kyle Larson is preparing to have family over once he moves into the final 4
Kyle Larson has a unique way of prepping up for the NASCAR Cup Series Final 4 at Homestead. For him, it’s not just about the race; it’s also about the celebration that could come with it. He’s already preparing for a packed house if he makes it to the Final 4, and when he says packed, he means it.
The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports driver shared that they “stuff a lot of people” in their house, and that’s not an exaggeration. Last year, he and his wife Katelyn opened their home to her family and friends for the weekend, and this time, he’s hoping for another big reunion. For Larson, it’s a bit of a tradition now. He gets a thrill not just from racing but from having his loved ones around, win or lose.
So as the weeks tick down, Larson is aiming to keep his performance strong, not just to be in the final race, but also for the chance to host another unforgettable gathering.
