The Drive for 5 campaign has pledged its cause to a threefold duty. This includes funding 5 students of the Urban Youth Racing School in Philadelphia by offering them yearly scholarships, feeding 5 families by providing them daily meals through the Sanneh Foundation and benefiting 5 communities per year by providing them school grants via Hendrick Cares.
And now, to support these causes more, Kyle Larson is organizing an exciting giveaway. And the prize of the hour is a brand new Chevrolet Colorado Z71 truck. 3 years ago, Chip Ganassi Racing indefinitely suspended Kyle Larson without pay after he used a racially insensitive comment in an iRacing event. Following Ganassi’s announcement, NASCAR also suspended Larson and ordered him to undergo sensitivity training before he was allowed to race again.
During his suspension, Larson got the chance to connect with retired soccer sensation Tony Sanneh, whose Sanneh Foundation works on the empowerment and development of youth in the Minneapolis area. Larson volunteered with the Sanneh Foundation, and the duo arranged hundreds of plates of food for the hungry youngsters.
According to AP News, this phase and the activities acted as an eye-opener for Kyle Larson. He said, “You’re out there for hours, bagging food and handing it out to a lot of people for hours, and it’s so eye-opening to see how many people are struggling to eat or get enough food on a daily basis.”

It wasn’t long before Hendrick Motorsports gave Larson an opportunity once he was reinstated to race in NASCAR’s top-tier series. But back then, he didn’t have a sponsor. To the utter glee of Rick Hendrick, Hendrick Automotive Group noticed that their online traffic increased significantly whenever Kyle Larson drove the #5 Chevy with the blue and white paint scheme. Hence, HAG took on the sole responsibility of sponsoring Larson’s races, and there has been no looking back for Kyle Larson since then.
