Herculean. Perhaps that’s the most appropriate word to describe someone who attempts the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Over the years, there have been a few drivers who have attempted this herculean task. And next year, Kyle Larson will be the latest addition to that small list.
However, Larson could end up doing what only 1 of those drivers could achieve.

The tough part with the Indy/Charlotte double is that not only does a driver attempt to run in the two races, which is quite difficult in itself, but to complete the two races? That’s next level.
And that next level has only been achieved by one driver so far in history, and that is Tony Stewart.
The Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner became the only driver to complete the 1,100 miles of the INDY500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in 2001, something Larson will also be hoping to do in 2024.

Plus, the fact that she backs Larson to not just be competitive next year, but to go on to win the race, shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“With a guy like Kyle and a good team, there’s always a chance to win the Indy 500,” Patrick told USA Today’s For the Win. “It is a tall challenge to feel really good in the car when it’s not what you do because open-wheeled cars are very different than stock cars.”

“I know he drives open-wheeled cars, but most of the time when he’s driving an open-wheeled car, he’s on dirt and not going 240 [miles an hour] on pavement.”
