Both Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman competed recently in a Late Model race in Berlin Raceway’s crown jewel event, where Elliott managed a 2nd-place finish. However, the versatile Larson did not just compete but won in the “Sprint Car Capital of the World.” With the spotlight fixed on him, he exhibited unparalleled skill and determination, leaving his competitors in the dust. Starting from the pole position, Larson’s Paul Silva-prepared #57 sprint car cut through the race like a bolt of lightning. No other driver could even approach Larson’s dominant performance, as he secured his second Nationals triumph in three years.
Larson spoke about his race after the fact and praised the fans and his team owner for an amazing race. “I was praying for no cautions and it all just worked out. Thanks to the fans. This is my favorite weekend of the year. I look forward to it all year long and you guys make it worthwhile. Paul Silva (car owner and crew chief) works so hard and it is so great to see his hard work pay off. I love him. There is no one else like him.”
Larson’s words resonate with his passion for the sport and the unrelenting drive that led him to this victory. “l just wanted to win. I didn’t care how many laps I led… It was such a fast pace that I really felt like it was going to be difficult for guys to get around me. Track position is important in any kind of race you may be in.”

The slump in HMS’ performance has been a hard pill to swallow. The recent race at Michigan International Speedway was a glaring testament to their struggles. In a heart-wrenching turn of events, three out of four HMS cars found themselves unable to finish the race, signaling a stark departure from their earlier successes.
Several factors have contributed to HMS’ seemingly downward spiral. At Michigan, Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman suffered DNFs, effectively placing their playoff hopes on a precarious ledge. Elliott, arguably the most popular driver in the current grid, is facing this situation for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, William Byron faced setbacks, failing the inspection before the qualifying race and having to start at the back of the field in Indianapolis.
